Pommello Engineered Heat training gear to enhance every athlete's warm-up, performance, and recovery. Visit us at www.pommello.com.

Pommello began in 2013, when founder Calvin Ng had a health scare that nearly took his life. This motivated Calvin to take an active role in managing his condition. As he researched, he learned that movement and heat together are directly linked to stimulation of the lymphatic system—the body’s natural sanitation system. This knowledge, combined with Calvin’s professional expertise as a clothing m

anufacturer, led him to develop the patent-pending Heat Reflect technology for the first Pommello Sweats prototype. Calvin used the gear in different fitness settings and noticed an unintended result—his muscles never got sore. When he wore the Sweats and began lifting weights, his muscles felt invigorated by the heat. He shared his discovery with friends and professional athletes, and all agreed that the Heat Reflect fabric accelerated their warm ups, gave them a more efficient, more intense workout, and helped them feel better afterwards, with quicker recovery and less muscle soreness than they were used to. This was no longer a fluke of training apparel, this was fitness equipment that you wear.

We were thrilled to read this news of two mothers and world-class Canadian competitors earning the right to continue to practice both during the Tokyo Olympics.

Basketball star Kim Gaucher was granted permission to be accompanied at the games by her infant daughter and husband, while boxer Mandy Bujold won a hearing that says accommodations must be made for women who were pregnant or postpartum during qualification periods. These decisions came on the same day and, as Doug Smith wrote for The Star, “if the decision took longer than it should have, at least it finally came.”

We celebrate the effort and dedication of these women, and women everywhere, who work tirelessly to achieve distinction in their fields and the equal opportunity they deserve.

Breastfeeding Gaucher wins the fight to bring her three-month-old daughter to Tokyo; Bujold wins a chance to fight after pregnancy, COVID-19 affected ...

“That which brings you to reality.”

“Yoga” is a Sanskrit word meaning "union,” or—more specifically—"yoking." The practice of yoga has been traced back to ancient Indian traditions, possibly as far back as 3000 BCE, though it most likely developed as a systematic study around the 5th and 6th centuries BCE. Hatha yoga gained particular prominence in the West as recently as the 20th century. At that moment, a bit of interpretive divergence took place. Western culture tends to regard yoga as recreation, exercise and even art. But the fundamental truth behind the word is much more spiritual and ethereal.

The Bagavad Gita, an ancient Hindu text, describes yoga as “the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” As the novelist and guru Sadhguru is quoted as saying, “yoga means to move towards an experiential reality where one knows the ultimate nature of existence, the way it is made. Individuality is an idea. Universality is not an idea; it is a reality. In other words, yoga means you bury all your ideas.” As the word “yoga” is interpreted to mean: “That which brings you to reality.”

While yoga doesn’t need to mean the same thing to each person, it’s important to honor the tradition. Next time you step onto the mat, breathe deep, calm your mind, and recognize the rich and complex history of this ancient discipline.

Mental health is real, and it’s vitally important to each and every one of us. Taking time to honor your own mental and emotional health and wellness is not a sign of weakness—in fact we think it’s just the opposite. The assumption that athletes are mentally, emotionally and physically invincible is not only incorrect, it’s dangerous, and it can lead to disastrous consequences in the personal lives of the very people society defies. After reading this article from Global News, we're taking a moment to celebrate Naomi Osaka for the courage and commitment-to-self she showed by speaking out and ultimately stepping away from the French Open in honor of her own mental wellness. we see you. We hear you. We celebrate you 👏🙌🙏

Mental well-being in professional sports is often overlooked and not given the same importance as the physical side, according to experts.

Many different athletic disciplines have different needs and not all athleticwear is designed to fulfill those functions. The performance needs from a hockey player are different from those of a yogi. An MMA athlete has specific needs that are different from a spinner. What has become a new trend is that many athletes cross-train in a variety of these same athletic disciplines.

When we designed our collection, we wanted to meet those needs from endurance sports, collegiate sports and combat sports, as well as micro-movement activities such as yoga, barre and Pilates.

We developed our key warm up feature which is what all of these disciplines value, but we added the super stretch elasticity and tear resistance features to support those athletes who want to use one piece of equipment and take it with them in each of these practices.

Our men’s and women’s HeatReflect gear was engineered to help you optimize your cross-training. It's fitness equipment that you wear.

We asked amateur boxer Ben Shamoon to try our HeatReflect™ technology. Here’s what he had to say about his experience and how he’ll be using our performance wear in his training regiment:

“The heat came really, really quick. I would say within two to three minutes of even just lacing up my shoes, getting the hand-wraps on, uh, you know, even before getting gloves up, I started feeling the warmth. This is different than a sauna suit. You get basically the same amount of sweat, but with a sauna suit they tend to fatigue you, you feel a little groggy afterwords. Right now, I’m still feeling very warm, very loose, very agile, so my muscles, my ligaments, my tendons, especially after having an injury, um, they feel just great.

I think heat is important not only for boxers but for any athlete, if you don’t have a good warm up, especially with my own background having a serious injury — when I had a dislocated shoulder — it was from not having a proper warmup, so it’s vital. It’s very important for any athlete to have the muscles warmed up and to feel that little bit of a sweat before you compete or even when you’re practicing.”

Jesse, the manager of the cyclo - cross division for USA Cycling had an opportunity to test Pommello Sweats against outdoor weather conditions when he rode and had this to say:

“As soon as I put [the Sweats] on I could start to feel — almost like a wetsuit — you feel the body heat just staying in like insulation, and then as soon as I started riding for a minute or two, I could feel myself starting to sweat right away. I warmed up really fast. The flexibility is great. It’s not binding anywhere. It feels actually really comfortable. I can tell for the temperature out here, like I’m bare skinned, I can feel it’s not super hot, but everywhere inside the suit I am really boiling.

The Sweats would definitely be good to use in cold weather, so any training ride we do where the temperature is kind of below 70 degrees, with the wind when you’re riding, you can really cool down, so using this in any cold weather would keep you warm. We’d definitely use this to stay warm when it’s cold out.

There's usually a pretty big gap between when we finish our warm up and when we get to start the race, so being able to keep something on like this and keep the body warm up until the very start of the race would be really crucial because we don’t cool down. A lot of times we warm up and there’s at least a 10 or 15 minute window between [when] we actually start the race and you start the race you’re kind of cold again already, so keeping these on up until a minute or two before the startline would definitely be nice to keep the body warmed up.”

The unique and fascinating cell structure you see here will have a landscape-shifting impact on the sports and fitness industry. The cell membranes of our proprietary HeatReflect fabric are individually filled with nitrogen gas to maximize the fabric’s heat retaining properties.

The traditional woven fabrics used in athletic apparel production, such as cotton and polyester, are designed to be breathable, which makes retaining heat nearly impossible. Athletes try to overcome this issue by adding layer after layer of clothing, which becomes cumbersome and restrictive, causing a loss of mobility and a stifling overheated feeling.

Our HeatReflect fabric is ideal for athletes because it’s impressively thin and elastic. The unique heat it creates mimics a sauna as it reflects your own natural body heat back into your muscles and joints, while you breathe fresh, ambient air. We are incredibly proud of this innovation and excited to continue to watch it change and impact athletic performance in ways never before seen.

Harper one of our Pommello yoga influencers has adjusted remarkably during this pandemic and made use of Pommello Sweats at home.

“I’ve put a space heater in my apartment and turned it on but, honestly, I think Pommello is one of the better ways. I get sweaty without having to get super-hot, and I love the element of heat for my joints, that little bit of a tingle. I’ve had knee issues, elbow issues, but I feel like everything is nice and tight and the heat is almost massaging the joint. And I’m definitely sweating. I’ve found it really useful putting it on at home because I’m still getting sweaty and I don’t have to turn the heat on. There’s breathwork you can do, like breath of fire. But those are to stimulate your energy systems, to wake you up, kind of a substitution for drinking coffee. You might get a little sweat holding poses for a little longer, that might heat you up a little bit. But there aren’t many things that replace being in a hot studio like this product.”

Our proprietary Heat Reflect™ neoprene is known for its insulative properties. Nitrogen gas in each cell membrane optimizes heat retention.

We incorporate a thin film of titanium sheeting—the same alloy used by NASA—as a heat generator activated by movement. This is what Pommello Sweats is made from.

That means you warm up faster with less effort, retain heat throughout your workout, and maintain pliability within your muscles.

Pro athletes, Olympians, and elite fitness trainers prefer to use Pommello Sweats.
