"To us, M**O means "More Pho", our favorite post practice meal."-matt

"To us, M**o means 'more fun'. The M**os are a dedicated team of young professionals who are working to excel in the competitive sport of dragonboat, while having a tonne of fun. Through our solid performances and constant advances, we've garnered our fair share of both supporters and cr

itics. Thanks to all who have provided us with constructive criticism and jokes, we look forward to seeing you on the water."- sara

As a core part of the M**O philosophy, our team takes pride in being able to give back to the community that we race in. Throughout the year, we organize several volunteer events in support of local charity or non-profit organizations. Some of the organizations that we've had the honour of working with in the past include:

Habitat for Humanity - Putting our muscles to good use alongside our friends from other dragon boat teams to help build safe, decent, affordable shelter for low-income families. Locks of Love - Team members and friends donating hair to create prosthetic hairpieces for financially disadvantaged children suffering from long term medical hair loss and cancer patients. Daily Bread Food Bank - Regular donations of time and food, including organized team events to volunteer for Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas food sorting. Second Harvest - Recently helped volunteer in the Toronto Taste event, which raised in excess of $500,000 (enough for 1.5 million meals to be delivered to the front lines of hunger - to community centres, shelters, breakfast programs and drop-in centres)
Operation Christmas Child - In co-operation with the Samaritan’s Purse organization, on an annual basis the team assembles and donates 30+ Christmas gift boxes full of toys, candies, games, toiletries and school supplies to children in war-torn and impoverished countries. SickKids Foundation - Volunteering at the Santa Claus parade to generate holiday cheer and raise funds to support the miraculous work that is being done at the Sick Kids Hospital. World Wildlife Foundation - Raising over $3,000 through the CN Tower Team Climb, to help international efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats. Additionally, we host a wildly popular end-of-season party each year. Aside from celebrating the team's successes for the year, raise funds for upcoming seasons and hanging out with our friends in the paddling community, one of our primary objectives is to raise funds for charity. At each event, we've donated $1000 of the proceeds to various organizations that are close to our hearts, including the Canadian Red Cross, UNICEF, Canadian Cancer Society, and the Daily Bread Food Bank.
