Physical Fitness isn't just lifting heavy weights at the gym. It's the way in which we interact with the world and the way it interacts with us. The way we move and are moved. Our strength and our weakness. There's so much more to fitness than running on a treadmill and/or lifting heavy weights under florescent lights...in fact, that's easily my least favourite way to exercise. Moving, climbing, jumping, balancing, walking, and running are all activities our bodies crave and are necessary both for our health and just to get the most enjoyment out of this world. Being strong is a function of our ability to control our own body within the physical space around us.

Parkour is for everyone. It's not just about flips and tricks and daredevil acrobatics. It's also about navigating the real world as safely and efficiently as possible. It's a change in perspective as to how we view obstacles...as a challenge or an impasse. It's everything from catching the bus on time and playing with our kids at the park to escaping danger and learning to fall without injury. Parkour has so many benefits for people of all ages, and it's never too late to learn how to use your body more effectively.

Martial arts practice can provide myriad mental, emotional, and physical benefits well beyond being able to defend yourself and other people. The practice strengthens and deepens the connection between our mind and body through the detailed practice of physical techniques. It helps us gain awareness of our emotional states through mindful preparation for extremely stressful circumstances. It helps us build resilience, focus, confidence, and self-awareness.

You don't need a personal trainer to get out and climb, balance, run, and train...but if you do want to be able to better enjoy the benefits of a stronger body and you're not sure where or how to start, I would love to help you on that path.

I offer fully customizable personal training that can include any or all of:
-Strength training
-Functional fitness
-Parkour/Natural Movement
-Classical Japanese Martial Arts
-Modern Combat sports

It's been two weeks since the conclusion of our 2025 Canadian Keikokai and the experience still feels so surreal to me. I don't think it possible to describe in words what the experience felt like and meant to me. The year leading up to the seminar felt particularly rough, for me and many with whom I am connected...and being fortunate enough to spend a week with the Taisha Ryu family, led by our Soke and Sensei, connecting with the history and tradition while immersed in nature was deeply rejuvenating and inspiring. We are so fortunate that Uehara Soke and Yamamoto Sensei are so giving of themselves and the teachings of their tradition.

I was especially fortunate with the timing of the seminar as it was shortly before my 40th birthday. Friends and family had been asking me how I planned to celebrate this milestone birthday and I couldn't think of anything, but anyone who knows me will know that I couldn't have imagined a much better way to commemorate my fourth decade of existence here than spending an entire week delving ever deeper into the practice of what has become my intense passion for the majority of my life, with many of my favourite humans, in some of the most beautiful forest I've ever seen. While that experience alone would have been more than enough for me, I was further blessed to spend so much quality time with Soke and Sensei...chatting, sharing meals, canoeing, etc. All memories that I will cherish, always.

Thank you, so much, to everyone who made that week possible. The longer I live, the more I come to realize how truly valuable these kinds of experiences really are...and I am very fortunate to have treasures like this in my past with more to look forward to. With the utmost sincerity, thank you.

How it began...the start of such an amazing and meaningful week. The open seminar was a chance for non-members to experience some of the fundamental techniques of Hyoho Taisha Ryu Kenjutsu, a samurai tradition dating back 450 years to the Warring States period of Japan.

Thank you to Soke and Sensei for always sharing so much of themselves with everyone. Thank you to all who joined us and helped make it such a wonderful event. And a special thank you to for hosting us at their world-class gym!

If anyone would like more information on joining Taisha Ryu, feel free to DM!

Have you ever wanted to learn the sword arts of the samurai?

This September, you have a rare opportunity to learn from the headmaster and chief instructor of Taisha Ryu Hyoho, a classical Japanese martial art with over 450 years of lineage.

For two days only, our annual Keikokai (training seminar) will open to the public — no experience necessary. Come explore the fundamentals of Kenjutsu, the principles of natural body control, and learn what makes traditional martial arts so powerful and timeless.

🌸 What You’ll Experience:
• Foundational sword movement and posture
• “Natural movement” training for body control
• Real-time instruction from Soke Eriko Uehara & Shihan Takahiro Yamamoto
• Q&A about our tradition and training path

🔗 DM for more info and registration

Don’t miss this rare chance to experience authentic Kenjutsu from masters of the tradition.

Alone, I practice under the watchful eye of the cold moon.
Searching the darkened woods for a deeper understanding.
My body sore and my mind exhausted, they sue for peace.
The light of the fire beckons me inside to its warmth...
But the shadows speak to me too.
They whisper "Again, brother".

I felt very fortunate for the community that developed in Scarborough at the Shinobi Village...and while it was sad that it ended, I met so many people that have become a huge part of my life.

The community was something I had wanted to build but wasn't prepared for how amazingly it would develop or how devastating it would be to lose...
..but now, with some of the best partners I could have wished for, we build a Village.

Welcome to the Elysian Highlands.
