Lately I’ve been seeing ads where women are saying “I’ve stopped dieting and I finally lost weight! Here’s how you can do it too.”
Maybe. Maybe that can happen. But also, maybe not.
More deeply than that, it’s still pinning weight loss as the “ticket” to health and happiness. And it’s not. Not in and of itself. Weight loss absolutely can be a result of health improvement. But happiness is not a result of that. It SEEMS like it is - but only when you hold your happiness hostage to weight loss.
The more ethical approach is: “I can’t guarantee weight loss, but I can help you reconnect with your body more to see what feels good when you eat, help you with a fitness plan that fits your life and energizes you, help you let go of stress and feel more emotionally connected”. That’s not as quick though, and not as satisfying in the moment. But it will bring the stable, lasting change.
Letting go of weight fixation isn’t easy, but it’s a healing path if you choose to walk it. That’s the transition I help women make. And if you want support for that, check out my resources below 👇
