We are back!

Rebranded for 2025!

Red Paperclip Motorsports!

New driver team made it seem like the right time for rebrand. Why Red Paperclip Motorsports? Becuase a lot of the acquisitions that have been made by this tram over the years have been acquired by bartering and trading and if you onow the red paperclip story… it seemed fitting

Ben and Alex will be taking on the driver and co driver duties in the stock class and Bronwyn will be behind the wheel in the Youth SXS class. All 3 are rookies to off-road racing and if this weekends results are any indication… they should be competitive!

HAMMERLAND 2025 Race Recap

STOCK CLASS
Ben and Alex tore up pre running and tackled the nasty rock section like seasoned pro’s and got a good 4-5 laps in prior to qualifying. The rock section was a joker line that had to be completed once every race for stock class. So getting a pre run in the rocks would definitely help during the race.

The boys piloted the 16 XJ to the fastest qualifying time in class with time of 1:47:09, 5 seconds faster than second place!

That pace unfortunately led to a catastrophic failure and the XJ unibody decided to become unibodies… essentially the XJ broke in 1/2! We ground, cut, welded and prayed to the racing gods but ultimately we failed tech/safety and could not continue. We knew the XJ was pretty rough underneath but we had hoped to get one race in and send this dumpster to well deserved retirement after this weekend. We will be back with a V8 ZJ for the next race.

YOUTH SXS
Bronwyn drove the wheels of her #14 Polaris RZR 170! The class started with bit of excitement, the marshal took the the group on a “parade lap” and when they got back to the start/finish to begin their one at a time timed laps… they all took off and we had a 1 lap wheel to wheel youth class race! Once they came around again to the start finish, the marshal stopped them and they got into line for the correct format. Was fun to watch a mini race though! Even just for one lap!

Bronwyn got faster and faster every lap! And saved her best for the final lap and just missed 1st place by .25 of a second!

All and all was a great weekend with great racing! Hammerland 2025 did not disappoint! And what better way to send an old XJ into retirement than to line it up on the burnout pad! The old 4.0 spun it up like a champ and put on a good show for it last hoorah. And in true 4.0 fashion… drove onto the trailer.

First update in a LONG TIME!

After 2.5 yrs of rebuilding 3093 into 2419, we finally hit the track last weekend at the Can X Racing Hammerland 2024 race! big shout out to everyone who helped me get 2419 out of the gatage and onto the trailer! Adrian Collison George Lawrence Carrington Branker Ben Shepherd, Adam Swartz Chris Miles, all the shops and sponsors that helped out along the way and stuck with us through the way over budget and well passed completion promises! Thanks you all for your support and man was it great to get back out on course and to do it with my son Ben for his first time on course made it extra special!

the weekend didn't go exactly as planned, but i guess that is too be expected with a new build out for the first time. Long days and nights were spent last week to get it out on the track. Hammerland 2024 was an event not be missed!

Unfortunately the day was marred with mechanical issue... We started the day with blowing a Crank Position Sensor during pre running, luckily Canadian tire in Lindsay had one so we "raced" down to grab and installed in and 2419 fired right up and was ready to start the main heat back of the back. we had some Tr**ny issues at the start of the main that put us down a lap right of the hop and once the tr**ny was working properly we tackled the "joker line" right away. 2 tugs from recovery and we were through the insane rock garden and then the ECM started acting up. the timing was in and out and giving false coolant temp signals leading me to believe i was running hot, so Ben and i pulled off track to let the engine cool a bit and then the ECM decided to leave the chat.

We managed to get 4 laps completed and had a blast doing it! we will get these electrical gremlins sorted and be ready for Aug 17 @ Maple Leaf!

Damage report: hit a drop off at the wrong speed and nose dived pretty hard, bent both front leaf springs and broke DS side shock shaft.

We will be at a new venue at 19553 Simcoe Street in Cannington, ON. This course will be a mix manmade and natural obstacles, big jumps and big speed.⁣

Driver registration is open. No money is due at time of registration but you can save 10% of your registration fee if you pay online by Sunday July 7. You must register by Thursday July 11 to be eligible to race.⁣

Well that’s a wrap on the TMR Customs Off Road Racing Series for 2022! What a great year we had! Our best results yet! 5 races 3 podiums! And unofficial 3rd overall!

And now for the race recap!

We started in P3 and we’re running a great pace then on lap 3 or 4 I hit a whoop a little too hot and a hard landing busted our front driveshaft at the differential. It was clunking around and we were worried about it taking out our oil pan, but as we passed the start finish our pit crew (Greasy Clown Motorsports) said they couldn’t see anything so we hammered down and did our best to maintain race pace. The conditions were super dry and dusty the corners were slick! It was all I could do to keep the front wheels in front of us and minimal front brakes meant the rear wheels wanted to pass us at every corner. I. The tight and twisty forest sections the steering was super light and zero feedback in the wheel which meant I was sawing the wheel to try to keep it out of the rhubarb… which was difficult but we managed to keep it on track until the last lap. That’s when the rears decided the fronts were holding them back and tried to pass us yet again… but this time with marginal success and sent us off the track and into… yup you guessed it… the rhubarb. Engine stalled and once we got it fired again we had to reverse out and carry on.

When we got back to the pits we surveyed the damaged and too our surprise the driveshaft wwas being held up by the O2 sensor wire! If you’re gonna be good, sometimes to gotta be lucky! The racing gods were smiling on us that day!

We got passed earlier in the race by the eventual race winner, Dale Racing (congrats on your first win Jack!) and we finshed physical 4th, but on corrected time vox racing got us by a 20 secs or so.
TnA Racing got second and over all points leader and beaver racing got 3rd and second overall. It was a close race for points all season and the last race mattered. Stock class was an exciting class this year!

The rental held together all season and we owe a big debt of gratitude to cook for lending us the jeep for the season! Not on to finshing to the Hammers car and get ready for Ultra4 USA!

Watch out TMR stock class. Next year we are coming in strong!

UGGGH!
I lost the whole detailed race recap… so here is the short and sweet version.
Maybe this will be the way of the future. Short recaps and maybe a live full recap next week

Motive Media Meltdown was a great race! Beauty weather and hot hot hot!

We through down some gret pre running laps and a decent qualifying lap to get us 4th on the grid. We moved up to 3rd when one car retired after qualifying.

We maintained race pace for the whole race move up a place to 2nd due to another retirement and on the 4th lap we putting down our best lap and challenging for 1st on corrected time and then…

Fueling issue… after a particularly violent run through the rock section the car just died and wouldn’t restart. We started to push the car to the line to get our 4th lap classified and the Adrian had the brilliant idea to use the starter in gear to turn the engine and trans to roll it across the line!

We managed to hold on the 3rd place due to attrition and stay on the podium! 4 races, 3 podiums!

It’s been a great season… full recap to come via live on Monday Aug 29!

Big thanks to Eugene Horvath and the TMR crew for putting on the best race of the season. Both classes battled right down to the last lap!
