Is Pilates here to stay, or is it just a trend? šŸ“ˆ

Pilates is dominating the fitness world right now. Everyone’s trying it, and everyone’s talking about it.

We took a gamble on Pilates back in 1998, long before it blew up. We’ve believed in this methodology for over 28 years, and we couldn’t be happier that the world is finally realizing what it can do. šŸ’›

But with rapid expansion comes the challenge of preserving the integrity of Joseph Pilates’ original principles while integrating modern exercise science. That’s been our exact mission since day one.

šŸ‘‰ Swipe through to see why Pilates is a one-of-a-kind methodology, how it’s bloomed, and the stats proving its staying power.

This is what 80 looks like when you love Pilates. šŸ¤

Our clients, Loretta and Anne, are living proof that it’s never too late to start. They’ve been committed to weekly Pilates with us and, most importantly, showing up for themselves—for over a decade.

The result? They feel better today than they did in their 60s.✨

Let’s just say their definition of easy in Pilates is different than ours 🫠 šŸ˜‚

Meet Daria, Pilates instructors and Education Advisor šŸ¤

Daria shares three things she’s learned as a new Pilates instructor, from how to guide a class to nurturing her own practice as an instructor.

Because there’s SO much that goes into becoming a Pilates instructor but there’s even more that you’ll learn along the way when you start teaching.

Pilates instructors, what’s something you learned once you started teaching that you still carry with you today?

Some Pilates hills we’ll happily die on ā›°ļø and here’s why....

1. Harder isn’t always better. ⚔
Pushing past your limits too quickly may compromise form, leading to your body compensating elsewhere, or even injuries instead of strength gains.

2. Pilates should meet you where you are. 🌱
Whether you’re starting Pilates, recovering from an injury or working towards goals, your workout should adapt to your body, not vice versa.

3. Soreness isn’t a measure of a good workout. šŸ”„
Muscle soreness often means you introduced a new stimulus or load. Real success shows up in better mobility, efficient recovery, improved posture, and how good your body feels day to day.

4. Progress is measured beyond the mirror. šŸŖž
Physical appearance is a tiny fraction of what movement offers. Real progress looks like carrying groceries without pain, and moving through your day with ease.

5. Your core is more than your abs. šŸŽÆ
It’s a misconception that your core is only your abdominals. One’s functional core is a system composed of the diaphragm, pelvic floor, transverse abdominis, and deep back muscles; we often say the core starts from the ground up.

6. Fancy exercises aren’t always the best exercises. ✨
Complex movements may look great, but simple movements performed well win every time and will help you build up to advanced movements. Never skip them.

7. Posture is more than just sitting up.šŸ§šŸ¾
Optimal posture should not be forced. ā€œSitting up straightā€ usually just creates tension in your spine and body. True posture is when you’ve strengthened your core stabilizers, back, glutes and shoulders so your kinetic chain is integrated.

8. A ā€œtightā€ muscle may not need stretching .🪢
Sometimes tight muscles may be crying out for stability and strength, not more stretching.

9. Pilates is for every body. 🫶
Pilates isn’t reserved for a specific age, shape, or strength level. Regardless of your experience, we teach Pilates for every body, every day.

Are you with us on these Pilates hills?

Sometimes we see the pinnacle of Pilates as advanced movements, but there’s also foundational, intermediate and everything in between that’s so important. šŸ’›

While some may reach the advanced repertoire, it’s completely okay if you don’t. Strength isn’t measured in comparison to others but rather how you feel in your everyday life.

In fact, advanced movements aren’t the most accessible. Our most popular and favourite classes are our foundational, intermediate and restorative.

Pilates is meant to meet you where you’re at so you can move better, feel your best, and live with greater ease. This is Pilates. ✨

The benefits of consistent Pilates aren’t always reflected in the mirror. More often, they’re felt internally through how you move, feel, and connect with your body. šŸ’› šŸŒæšŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø
