The 2025 Dr. John Carlos Black History Month event has received a North American award at the NIRSA Creative Excellence Awards, recognizing TMU in the Experiential & Pop-up Activations category. This honour celebrates innovative, on-campus experiences that drive participation and elevate awareness within collegiate recreation.

This achievement is a testament to the creativity, collaboration, and dedication of everyone who helped bring this event to life. We’re grateful for the incredible support from our university and student partners and Oak View Group (OVG).
