Recap from last weekes game 1 victory for SWAT.
THE EVIL EMPIRE STRIKES AGAIN!
OVERALL
SWAT takes care of business and secures the 97-89 win over 1 Matrix/Hundred. In the win, SWAT looked like the well-oiled machine that we are accustomed to seeing and it appears they haven't missed a beat. They were being patient on offense while playing tough defense with some throwback half-court traps. Denny McDonald led all scorers with 29 points, while adding 4 rebounds, 3 assists on 78% shooting. Also, Shane Rowe was an absolute beast clocking in with 23 points and 15 rebounds in the victory.
For 1 Matrix/Hundred, they started the game with several easy baskets courtesy of Kamaka, Williams, and Thompson. But, once SWAT applied the pressure defensively a lot of the high percentage and easy looks started to rim in and out for them. Shooting Specialist Sanel Sehic came off the bench and gave an extra lift as he caught fire from beyond the arc. He finished with 21 points (7 made 3PT's). Shevon Thompson had an impressive game posting 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists on 67% FG in the loss.
The game went back and forth but the experience of SWAT late in the game proved to be one of the main differences as each player on the floor knew their role and what they had to do to ensure the victory. Hopefully, Capt. McNeilly can get the troops focused while playing with a greater sense of urgency especially, late in the game. Also, the scorers on this squad need to do a better job at playing through physicality while adjusting to marginal contact. Great work to both sides on competing and all the best next week!
