Village Pool League

The Village Pool League (VPL) is a not-for-profit 8-ball league in the Church-Wellesley neighbourhood, home to the gay and le***an community of Toronto.

The league consists of varying levels of participation with full, part-time, and "floating spare" players all totalling about 65 members. A volunteer Executive Committee meets as required to manage the VPL. MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ANYONE. We welcome players of all skill levels; although winning your game is an important objective, good sportsmanship and having some fun while doing it is an equally i

mportant focus of the league. At the end of regular season play the teams are split into divisions according to their ranking at that time. A final round of play against each team in the division determines the division champion for the regular season. Then a playoff round takes place for one last chance to clinch the division title for the year. Prior to the start of the regular season, the league holds a welcoming tournament at Pegasus on Church Street. Another holiday party is held during the Christmas/New Year break. The year is capped off with a final banquet where trophies are awarded and people have an opportunity to share some memories over a good meal. As well, the banquet provides an opportunity for us to raise some money for a local charity. If this sounds like fun to you, check out our membership page and contact us for further information.

Hi everyone, we just wanted to remind you that Tuesday will be our potluck/ holiday party. We will have some fun games, prizes and some great eats for you to enjoy. So far we have members bringing baked goods, cookies, wings, spring rolls, hush puppies, quiche, cheese and meat tray etc. A real smorgasbord.

Feel free to bring what you like, but please remember we can't bring our own beverages into Pegasus.

Hi everyone.
So it's here...the final playoff game of the season (Wizards vs Thunderbirds Are Go)!
Hoping many of you can come out tomorrow night (Tuesday April 1st).
There will be pizza!
Theme for tomorrow night is Pajama Party! (i.e. anything comfy you feel comfortable wearing...could be pajamas, sweat pants, etc.).
There will be playoff games on table 1.
Tables 2 and 3 will be open for doubles play or one on one (depends how many people we have).

Banquet update:
Just a reminder that the awards banquet will be Tuesday April 22nd.
Where: Sambucca
What: awards banquet, followed by fun pool play (i.e. doubles, killer pool) at Pegasus.
We'll assume you're coming, however if you're not planning on coming, please let me know asap so we have accurate numbers for dinner at Sambucca.
I will get in touch with more details closer to the date.

Good day everyone. This message contains a lot of important updates, so please read to the end! 🙂
This is our last week of regular play and since sports seems to be a happy favourite, the theme this week is anything sports related (i.e. team jersey, hat, etc.).
Games this week:
Table 1: Pups and Gang Bang Theory
Table 2: Wizards and Thunderbirds
Table 3: Wings and Tsunami
Playoffs will be 3 weeks long and will be Sundays and Tuesdays. On Sundays, start time for games will be 6pm (feel free to show up earlier to practise) and Tuesday, game time will remain at 7pm.
Playoff format:
Round 1:
Top 2 teams get a BYE (will send out email this week to let everyone know what teams have a BYE)
Team # 3 vs team # 6
Team # 4 vs team # 5
Games on March 16 and 18
Team with highest total points over two nights against their opponent will move on to round 2
Round 2:
Team # 1 vs lowest seed from round 1
Team # 2 vs the other winner from round 1
Games on March 23 and 25
Same point as above (team with highest total points against their opponent moves on to the next round)
Round 3
Winners from round 2 face off against each other
Games on March 30 and April 1
Call for EC: If you are interested in joining the EC for next season, please use me know. If we have more than 4 people interested (including those currently on the EC), we will have votes to determine the 4 people for the EC.
Positions are President, Secretary, Treasurer, Statistician

Hold the date: we will be having our annual awards banquet on April 22nd. More details to come closer to the date.

Greetings! Welcome to the last part of our schedule....8 more weeks! (6 more weeks for each team.......sounds like groundhog day!)
A couple of things to note:
Just wanted to announce drink specials that Pegasus will provide us:
20 ounce house lager (Flying Horse and Dark Horse): $8
$4 yagermiester (I know i’m spelling that wrong...too tired to spell check...lol)
And a reminder that it’s top shelf Tuesdays so drink up! (responsibly of course) 😀
We thought we’d bring back theme nights....since we’re back to really mild weather (and doesn’t look or feel like winter), let’s dress like it’s tropical (Hawaiin shirt, etc.)
