In this Iyengar Yoga class, Stephanie explores standing poses through the lens of joint stability rather than flexibility.

Using props such as blocks, a belt, and wall support, the practice focuses on developing steadiness, strength, and awareness through the ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders.

A thoughtful practice for students interested in improving balance, support, and understanding in standing asanas.

One of the biggest obstacles to practicing at home is deciding what to do.

In class, the sequence is set.
At home, you have to choose.

And that’s where the practice stalls.

The thing is, you don’t need to plan a full sequence every time.

You can start with:
– a few standing poses
– a supported backbend
– a quiet forward bend

That’s enough.

And when you don’t want to decide at all, it helps to have something already laid out for you.
