The club mourns the loss of a WICC stalwart. Meryll "Coach" James was a fixture at Sunnybrook Park for decades as the First Team Coach, a mentor, and a friend. He ran practices with a unique blend of discipline and joy, but his true legacy lies in the countless young cricketers he inspired with his signature pep talks and stories.
Coach’s devotion to the next generation was unmatched. He was the kind of mentor who would take time out of his own life to ensure no one was left behind, often driving young cricketers to and from practices and matches just to make sure they could play. He was the ultimate champion of the game and its players, and he will be profoundly missed.
Rest in peace, Coach.
