Here is a glowing endorsement of JUDO from UNESCO which I cannot verify, because the source document is in Spanish. If somebody knows Spanish, then please check it out and let me know if the source is correct.

In any case, here is the excellent endorsement of Judo that appeared on Facebook:
"UNESCO declared judo the best beginner sport for training children and young people aged 4 to 21 years.
The benefits of child development:
- Through persistent Judo practice, a child develops his strength, speed, flexibility, coordination, reflex, concentration, balance, resistance, personality, confidence and knowledge of his own body.
- Due to constantly changing situations, in Judo practice, a child is required to stimulate their "tactical thinking".
- Judo does not encourage aggression; Through relationships with their peers, a child learns to cooperate, respect and develop self-control.
- Judo is practiced without punches or kicks in the initial phase, which is safer for children as they begin practicing martial arts.
- Even though it is originally a martial art, judo transmits certain culture and traditions into its practice, such as respect, discipline, emotional balance, and introduces many other values into children’s daily habits.
Useful information about Judo:
- It’s a school sport with everything it stands for.
- This is an Olympic sport.
- This is a must have subject for INEF students [French STAPS correspondent]
- It is a sport, the practice of which was recognized by UNESCO as the most recommended for children over 4 years old.
UNESCO has declared judo as the best beginner sport for training children and young people aged 4 to 21. "To be implemented in all schools"
