FITWOMAN classes are a challenging workout for ALL women, whether you’ve just had a baby or your “baby” was born 10 or more years ago. This quick paced class works to maximize your metabolism by combining many different strength and cardio exercises suitable for all levels of fitness. You can expect to increase lean muscle, improve cardiovascular endurance and reduce stress through a combination of intervals, circuits, plyometrics, strength training and great music all delivered in the signature FITMOM style!
This is a great exercise class for women who have returned to work or who are interested in a workout without babies, where there’s a full hour to focus on something for you! We use weights, ladders, resistance bands and other equipment in HIIT and circuit type workouts. Of course, we offer options for higher intensity or lower impact to keep your safe and injury free while still enjoying a challenging workout.

It’s all about the bonding and connection at FItmom ! Baby kisses push-ups is a great exercise for that :) Keeping littles one’s engaged not only helps class run smooth but it creates many opportunities for attachment and connection. To connect through movement is a gift to both mom and her little one :). It’s in this we observe littles one’s developing an on going joy of movement. Did you know if you have diastasis it is best to do push-ups in a table top position to reduce intraabdominal pressure !?

For years I have preached to practise community - this no longer comes naturally to most. It is so hard to break the cycle when everyone is in survival . When we show up for each other, play to our strengths, and find ways to figure it out magic can happen. These two women have stood by my side through thick and thin and while connection was initially business they mirror back to me values I try to live and impart to mothers everywhere. We are much stronger when we work together. These 2 women have helped hold Fitmom's vision strong by showing up with humanity for me and each other and the women they work worth every day.

Have you got the back to work blues? Fitwoman is geared to moms who are back working and want some accountability to get their sweat on with a side of social. Fitwoman classes over the years have kept back to work moms sane with the comraderie of women doing all the things and a fantastic motivating workout.
Carve out some time for you this June , Wednesdays at 630 for 5 in person classes and a month of online access!

While geared to supporting busy working moms you do not need to be a mom to come of course!

Can you touch your toes ? A lot of people say they are not flexible to which I answer “ but do you stretch ? “ Hamstring tightness in the childbearing years can be a key source of low back pain ( although other reasons like core function for example play a role ) Stretching and mobility can be anytime anywhere within your day. Try doing some stretches while you are on the floor playing with little ones or standing at the counter or even in bed at night . Also consider positions other than sitting on a chair. For example sit on floor with back against a wall and legs extended out . If your hamstrings are chronically tight even with regular stretching introducing rolling is a game changer! Time to let loose mamas ! Love this pic of a mama and her toddler mimicking the movement. Modelling movement for your little ones is such a gift to them !

Form is everything. In the child bearing years lots of things have shifted. In this case we are working on keeping our knee right above the heel ( a little more conservative than general lunge form where one would be told just don’t let that knee travel past the toe). Your hood widening during pregnancy shift the insertion points at your knees ). Tips and details like this are what help you to progress injury free !
