We’re excited to introduce as a mentor for HL’s Mentorship Loop this summer! 💫

A former professional athlete and Team Canada representative, Wumi’s journey has taken her from Division I basketball at Duquesne University to coaching across the NBA G-League, CEBL, NCAA, and U SPORTS.

A first-generation Canadian of Nigerian and Jamaican descent, she brings a unique blend of lived experience, leadership, and global perspective including her work with Giants of Africa, founded by Masai Ujiri.

As a certified mindfulness and performance coach, Wumi is passionate about helping athletes build resilience, focus, and confidence on and off the court.

The Mentorship Loop connects female and non-binary hoopers across stages to build confidence, gain clarity, and grow through shared experiences, honest conversations, and community.

A Toronto-born standout and former national team athlete, Dakota’s journey has taken her around the world from competing in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games to leading impactful work off the court. 🏀

As Executive Director of the PS43 Foundation, she uses sport to empower youth and advocate for systems that are equitable, safe, and inclusive for all.

Dakota brings a powerful blend of lived experience and leadership, with a deep belief in sport as a tool for positive change.

With experience working alongside Canada Basketball and a background in financial management, business operations, and leadership, she continues to use basketball as a platform to build community, mentor athletes, and support growth beyond the game.
