Hi everyone!
Summer 2020 is almost upon us, it's time for a season of Swimming Lessons with Emily!
While we're not sure exactly what things will look like in the coming weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, We're going ahead with registrations. We will continue to observe federal and provincial recommendations as the situation progresses. Your child's safety is of utmost importance (hence learning to swim 🙂 and extra precautions will be taken to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure the safety of swimmers and additional family members alike. We wish you all health and safety in these trying times.
Over the last few years, I have been working toward my Water Safety Instructor (WSI) with Canadian Red Cross. I received my WSI in the spring of 2019 and have been teaching for the YWCA of St. Thomas during the summer, fall, and winter. I also have the following certifications:
· Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
· High Five certified
· Standard First Aid and CPR level C
These certifications allow me to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Red Cross Swim program from the preschool levels to level 10. Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, planning skills, lifesaving skills and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. Highfive ® teaches instructors to identify key character traits for healthy child development and effectively handle special needs.
This summer, I plan to teach private swimming lessons for interested families at a local private pool. I have secured a heated, salt-water pool, diving board, and slide in Tillsonburg for the summer. There is also a very nice sitting area for parents/guardians to watch the lessons.
If you are interested in having me teach your kids, please PM me or call/text me at 226-378-0367.
I can teach up to three children at once, provided they are no more than one swim level apart.
When you call/text, please have your child’s report card available so the appropriate amount of time can be booked. Younger swimmers receive 30-minute lessons (baby/preschool- level 4) while more advanced swimmers receive 45 or 60-minute lessons (levels 5-10). The chart posted provides an equivalency comparison between Red Cross and the Life Saving swim programs.
All lessons will be held rain or shine. Out of pool lessons will be given during thunder and lightning.
What about the cost? That is somewhat dependent upon your child’s swim level and the number of children being taught at once.
Please note: pre-school children should be taught in a one-on-one context until they are comfortable and confident in the pool.
PRESCHOOL AND LEVELS 1-4 (eight 30 minute classes)
1 child with 1 teacher: $120 per child
2 children with 1 teacher: $96 per child
3 children with 1 teacher: $72 per child
LEVELS 5-7 (eight 45 minutes classes)

I am also able to discuss providing tailored instruction for children with special needs.
If you want to coordinate your lessons with friends that have children the same age/skill level as your own, that’s fine! There’s lots of room at the pool to hang out while I teach your kids. AND PLEASE SHARE THIS POST WITH INTERESTED CONTACTS!
Thanks, Emily
