This beautiful photo was captured during our performance at Ottawa’s Italian Festa, where our dancers proudly represented our organization while celebrating the music, traditions, and culture that connect Italian communities from coast to coast.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate what it means to be Italian-Canadian.

🇮🇹❤️ What an honour it was for Le Stelle Alpine Italian Dancers to be invited to perform at the Church of St. Anthony’s Feast Day celebration this weekend.

The Feast of St. Anthony is a cherished tradition in many Italian communities, celebrating the life and legacy of St. Anthony of Padua, the patron saint known for his compassion, faith, and helping those in need. For generations, Italian families have gathered to honour him through prayer, community, food, music, and cultural celebrations.

As an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing Italian heritage through dance, it was especially meaningful for our dancers to be part of this beautiful tradition. We are proud to help keep our culture alive while celebrating the values of family, faith, and community that are at the heart of Italian culture.

A heartfelt thank you to the Church of St. Anthony for welcoming us to be part of this special day. 🇮🇹✨

Italian Heritage Month Family Spotlight – The Talarico Family 🇮🇹

The Talarico family immigrated to Canada from Catanzaro, Calabria in 1968, arriving by plane in search of new opportunities and a bright future for their family. Upon arriving in Canada, Vincenza worked as a babysitter and homemaker, while Giuseppe worked as a painter before proudly establishing his own business, Talarico Painting, just two years later.

Like so many Italian families, their journey was built on hard work, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to family. Today, those values continue to be passed down through future generations.

For the Talarico family, being part of Le Stelle Alpine is about more than dance. It’s about staying connected to their roots, celebrating Italian traditions, and honoring the family members who came before them. Through dance, they are able to keep their heritage alive while sharing it with the next generation, ensuring that their family’s story and culture continue to thrive.

Thank you to the Talarico family for sharing your beautiful immigration story and for helping keep Italian traditions alive within our community. ❤️🤍💚

🇮🇹 Italian Heritage Month Family Spotlight: The Tarsitano Family 🇮🇹

The Tarsitano family traces its roots to Pedace Perito, in the Province of Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. In 1955, Rocco Tarsitano left his family behind and made the journey to Canada in search of a better life and greater opportunities. Three years later, in 1958, his wife Filomena and their four children followed, travelling aboard the MS Augustus to Halifax arriving at Pier 21 before continuing by train to Port Arthur, Ontario.

Today, that legacy continues with Le Stelle Alpine Italian Dancers through Anna Morrone and her daughter Amanda Trevisanutto. Anna dedicated more than 20 years as President of Le Stelle Alpine Italian Dancers, and Amanda danced from age six through adulthood and now proudly serves on the Board of Directors.

For their family, Le Stelle Alpine is about much more than dance. It is a way to honour the sacrifices of those who came before them, celebrate their Canadian-Italian identity, and ensure those traditions continue for future.

“Being Canadian-Italian is something I am very proud of. Le Stelle Alpine allows me to celebrate my heritage, honour my family’s journey, and share those traditions with others. We are more than a dance group—we are a family.” — Amanda Trevisanutto

As we celebrate Italian Heritage Month, we remember the courage of our ancestors and the legacy they built for us. Grazie to the generations who came before us and to those who continue to keep our culture alive today.
