A huge shout out to our friends at Bash Bays who helped us raise $400 during our second annual fundraiser in support of Shelter House! These funds will go towards the ever growing cost of operating the only year-round low-barrier shelter in our city.

A huge thank you from everyone here at Shelter House to everyone who participated in this year's event. For those that missed it, keep your eyes peeled next spring for more SMASHING good times! 👀

Last night, we had the incredible honour of being nominated for not one, but two categories at the Thunder Bay Chamber Business Excellence Awards — Quality of Life and Game Changer.

While we didn’t take home an award this year, being recognized alongside so many amazing local businesses was something we’re truly proud of.

Running a small business is rarely glamorous behind the scenes. It’s long days, late nights, problem-solving on the fly, carrying stress home with you, questioning yourself constantly, and still showing up the next day because you care deeply about what you’re building. Most people only see the finished product — not the daily grind, the sacrifices, the risks, or the heart that goes into it.

So to even be nominated means more than we can properly put into words.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Bash Bays — our customers, community partners, friends, family, and every person who has booked a session, shared a post, recommended us to someone, or cheered us on along the way. You are the reason we get to keep doing this.

A huge congratulations as well to all of the nominees and winners. Thunder Bay has so many passionate, hardworking businesses doing incredible things for our community, and it was inspiring to celebrate alongside you all.

We may not have won an award, but we still feel incredibly lucky to do what we do every day. Today it’s back to the grind — building, growing, learning, and continuing to create a space where people can laugh, connect, celebrate, and let loose.
