Situated in the "Heart of Bear Country" Located in the Thunder Bay area in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. WFO Outfitters is a diversified company offering Fall Black Bear hunts, and Timber Wolf hunts starting in December. WFO was started in 1988 by Rob Kotanen who was joined in 1991 by Garth Matyasovszky. In 2014, after countless successful hunts and valued new friendships, Rob decided to retire an

d spend more of his time travelling, spending time with family and harvesting more animals of his own. Garth continues on as a guide and now as sole proprietor of WFO. Garth is also currently employed with Hydro One (formerly Ontario Hydro) and has been a Powerline Maintainer since 1990. He is very passionate about hunting and has taken numerous Pope and Young animals.

So in early April before our we could get into bush we headed across the pond to South Africa. We were hosted by with PH/owner Mark Commins, .maartens .I didn’t bring my own fi****ms on this trip , but Mark had me covered with his highly customized 300 PRC. It was a truly amazing journey as we travelled from Pietermaritzburg to Kwazulu-Natal for first part of hunt. This area is an all free range and truly rugged low fence area. . From there we headed back to The Midlands for some more action with my second experience with Thermal hunting for jackal while calling them in. Very cool. From there we moved to The Free State which can be very deceiving. It has immense flat areas which then abruptly change into small mountains that rise to around 6000 feet. I got to see a fantastic variety of game and areas on this trip. It was an amazing experience and if anyone wants to talk about planning a trip , feel free to contact us as this will definitely not be our last trip! Already looking forward to our return trip.

Found this fella while out baiting. He was checking a nearby bait site in the snow. As you can see from the snow and ice on lake Mother Nature wants to keep early season baiting as difficult as possible. All in the enjoyment of being a bear hunting outfitter. Won’t be long now until anxious hunters are taking up residence . Good luck to all the hunters in the bush.
