🏁 IT’S RACE DAY… JUST NOT FOR US. 💀😭

The Fall Classic is underway at Ogilvie Raceway, and my FOMO is currently reaching levels that should probably require medical attention. 😂🏁

While everyone else is out there enjoying the dirt and noise, I’m over here being a responsible, productive member of society and wondering exactly where I went wrong in life. 🙄😂

Have fun out there! I’ll just be here, emotionally supporting you all from my desk. 🫡🏁

This time of year, I like to look back at the season and ask:

What went well?
What nearly broke me? 😂
Did I actually improve?
And what made all of this worth it?

If I had to pick one thing that really stands out this season, it’s the heart of the T53 , the engine. It’s probably the thing I’m most grateful for.

While I managed to struggle with just about every other part of racing, that engine was an absolute workhorse — reliable, consistent, and somehow the only part of the T53 that chose not to personally test my emotional stability. 😂🏁

Honestly, if I’d been fighting major engine problems on top of everything else, that might have been the final straw. I was already hanging on by one questionable thread some weekends. Add an engine failure and I may have closed the trailer door and taken up competitive knitting. 💀

There’s still lots to improve and plenty to figure out for next year, but I’m incredibly grateful for the one part of this car that just kept showing up and doing its job.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this engine purr — from the sponsors who made it possible, to the builder who put together one seriously dependable workhorse, and everyone who helped keep it happy. ❤️🏁

This year, having one less thing to worry about meant more than you probably know.

Huge thank you to #80 Ron Moretto for helping get the T53 down to Ogilvie Raceway for the 2026 Topless Nationals this year. ❤️🏁

Ron is one of those guys who supports the racing world, somehow appears exactly when you randomly need something, and — slightly suspiciously — already seems to know what you need before you do. 😂

We absolutely would’ve loved to be heading back to Ogilvie this weekend for the Fall Classic, but unfortunately someone around here has to work — because next season’s tires, fuel, parts, and entry fees apparently aren’t going to fund themselves. 😂🏁

Thank you again, Ron, for everything you do for racers and for helping us get another race weekend in the books for 2026. We appreciate you! ❤️🏁

Okay, let’s talk T-shirt sales. 😂🏁

I have officially discovered that this is, without question, the most stressful part of racing.

Not driving 60 mph toward a concrete wall, Knowing I was probably the last person to check the brake lines, tighten the important bolts, and confirm the car remains in one piece.

And we all know my automotive competency sits somewhere between “enthusiastic” and “has access to tools.” 💀

No.

It’s the shirts.

It still blows my mind that people are willing to PAY ACTUAL MONEY for a shirt I dreamed up for a racing program where my primary role is bringing up the back of the field to make sure all my little ducklings in front are doing okay. 😂

Someone has to supervise.

Then comes the ordering.

Sizes. Colours. Quantities.

Small. Medium. Large. XL. 2XL. 3XL. Youth sizes.

WHY ARE HUMANS AVAILABLE IN SO MANY CONFIGURATIONS?

This would be significantly easier if T-shirts came in one size:

“Probably fits somebody.”

Then you order and immediately question every decision you’ve ever made.

Did I order enough larges? Too many mediums? Did that person want teal? Was there someone who messaged me at 11:47 p.m. three weeks ago saying, “Hey, put me down for one”?

Now I’m scrolling through Messenger like I’m conducting a federal investigation into an underground T-shirt trafficking operation. 😂

Meanwhile, there’s a race car in the garage held together by rivets, optimism, and several bolts I personally tightened…

and somehow THE SHIRTS are what’s keeping me awake at night. 💀

So genuinely, thank you to everyone who has bought one. I’m still amazed people are willing to wear my nonsense in public. 😂❤️

And if your shirt is the wrong size, wrong colour, or I somehow forgot you entirely…

please remember:

I drive a race car into corners at speed with roughly this same level of administrative organization.

You knew the risks when you ordered. 😂🏁

🏁 RACE REPORT — THUNDER CITY DIRT TRACK NATIONALS 🏁 Presented by Thunder Bay Truck Centre

We showed up to the Thunder City Dirt Track Nationals with a different setup, a little optimism, and absolutely no expectations — which is usually when things either go surprisingly well or dramatically worse. 😂

After running approximately one business day behind the pace for most of the second half of the season, we decided to try something different — because repeating the same mistake and expecting different results is not, in fact, a race strategy. It’s just a hobby with receipts. 😂

We tested the new setup during Thursday practice, but the track was so tacky that I’m fairly certain I could’ve bolted on four shopping-cart wheels and still said, “Wow, she feels pretty good.”

So we committed.

Friday night, I started on the outside pole in my heat and somehow brought home a 5th-place finish, earning a transfer straight into the A-Main.

THE BIG SHOW. 🚀🏁

No B-Main. No alphabet soup. Just straight into the feature.

Yeah, I know — hard to believe. 😂

Saturday brought a few repairs, but with some much-appreciated help, we got everything buttoned back up and ready to go.

Starting 16th in the A-Main, I climbed aboard the struggle bus and purchased an all-day pass. No transfers, no refunds. 😂

The plan became simple: stay clean, stay out of trouble, and finish.

That plan was working reasonably well until we made a brief mid-race stop for a footlong at Subway. 🥪💀

Apparently I got a little peckish, saw an opening between two parked cars, and decided the T53 should pull into the drive-thru.

I squeezed in tight enough to skin the LF right down to the door, which was a surprise open-wheel conversion kit.😂 In my defence, the parking lot was pretty full and my options were limited.

Then somebody nearby decided Subway wasn’t fancy enough, brought some class to the party, and fired up the charcoal grill for a little Wagyu.

Then I heard over the Raceceiver:

“GET THE DRIVER OUT OF THE CAR!”

Suddenly, people were running toward me like the doors had just opened at a Black Friday sale — except everyone was carrying fire extinguishers and nobody was fighting over a television. 😂

Naturally, I assumed they were making a beeline for me and that I was the one trying to charbroil the steak right off the T53.

I’m not sure I’ve ever exited anything that quickly in my life — with the possible exception of baby showers and wedding showers.

Those are simply not my cup of tea. I prefer my social obligations with less forced enthusiasm. 💀😂

False alarm — it wasn’t my car. It was the #332 Stieh, behind me.

I’m very glad #332 made it out unscathed, and I’m also grateful for the unexpected trackside emergency-exit drill.

Nothing like a little hands-on practice to keep the reflexes sharp. 🏁

I did try to continue the race, but after another lap, I still couldn’t figure out exactly what was happening in the front end.

The steering was giving me several different answers, and none of them were “turn left.”

So, in a rare display of responsible racing decision-making, I called it.

Rather than continue until I lost all steering and reintroduced the T53 to a concrete wall, I decided to award myself a DNF.

We tried something different.
We made the A-Main.
We learned a few things.
We improved our emergency-exit procedure.
And the concrete remained untouched.

Still progress. 😂🏁

Just putting this up to showcase how impressively I accordion-folded the front fender with absolute precision. 😂🏁

Call it motorsports origami, if the final exam was folding a fitted sheet at 60 mph. 💀

GOOD NEWS:
✅ I did not cause the caution
✅ ZERO spins all weekend
✅ Fender now has approximately 47 aerodynamic surfaces

I’m pretty sure this should finally seal the NASA deal. 🚀😂
