Well… I don’t really want to talk about it.

Just kidding. Of course I do. 😂

The slow learner continued her scenic tour aboard the Struggle Bus Express this week. The good news? I think I know why. Mostly. Probably. Maybe.

As I pulled out for the heat race, the car started having ignition issues. It would clean up at higher RPM, but it seemed wise to swap the ignition module before the B-Main. Thanks to generous competitor #77, I was able to borrow a spare with the promise to replace it. Naturally, I was convinced this would solve all my problems.

It did not. 😂

In the heat race, Spencer snuck another one by me on the last lap and stole the transfer spot by what felt like inches. That’s the kind of close, clean racing that makes this sport so much fun. Well done, Spencer!

For the B-Main, I rolled out determined to shake the B-Main Bandit reputation before it becomes legally attached to my race suit.

The green dropped, I stepped on the throttle, and immediately remembered something important:

“Hey Sacha… remember when you were supposed to buy ballast clamps and move that lead?” 🤦‍♀️

Turns out race cars have an excellent memory.

So we were already fighting that issue, and then the ignition gremlin came back for an encore around 5,000 RPM just to make sure the evening stayed exciting.

The silver lining is that we seem to have a pretty good idea of what’s going on. A little wrenching, a little troubleshooting, and hopefully a test-and-tune before next week should have us pointed in the right direction.

And we’ll be showing up with some fresh shoes, courtesy of Danny Young. Thank you! 👟🏁

Coin car wash experience: 10/10, would recommend. 🫧🏁

Much easier than washing at home where I have to:
find the pressure washer, make sure there’s gas in it, and locate the brush my kids definitely used as a weapon last week. 😂

Only downside: the wind immediately blew half the parking lot back onto the car.

Still… she was clean for a brief, beautiful moment.

Update: Congrats to Jesse Owen, he was the first to guess that it was the yoke that needed to be replaced!

We had to call in reinforcements this week (not pictured… mostly because they were too busy solving my problems) to investigate the mystery vibration.

To be fair… they suggested we look into it sooner.
I suggested we run it one more week… just to triple-check that I was actually feeling a vibration and it wasn’t simply ✨driver paranoia✨ or my imagination rattling around in the seat. 😂

Good news:
I was not imagining it.

Now that the diagnosis is in and everyone’s excitement level has settled somewhere between “ahhh that makes sense” and “how did that stay together?”… we figured we’d make a game of it.

🏁 Race Recap | TCS | May 27 🏁

Pill draw: 84… which felt rude right out of the gate 🤣 …but an improvement from last week’s 96, so we’ll call that progress.

Heat: 8th ➡️ 7th
B-Main: 2nd ➡️ 4th

In the heat, I was hanging onto a transfer spot for a few laps and feeling pretty proud of myself… then I left the door open trying to work around someone and… well… let’s just say I politely invited Kat to come on down. It was her time on The Price is Right… for Sacha’s transfer spot. 🚪😂 Her patience paid off💨🏎️

Started 2nd in the B-Main but just couldn’t find enough traction to hang onto it and transfer out.

Watched the race videos after and I’m happy to report:

it felt WAY worse in the driver’s seat than it actually looked.

So that’s a nice new development for the confidence file. 🤣

Also… pretty clear Kat and I did not get the memo that the heat race had gone green.

While everyone else launched… we were apparently still mentally preparing like:

“Are we going?”
“Wait… are we going going?”
“Oh… no we’re definitely racing.” 🏁💨😂

The mystery vibration is still making guest appearances, so the investigation continues. Magnum P.I. will be back on the case in the shop this week with absolutely no new leads and several theories.

But the biggest wins this season:

✅ 2 race nights
✅ 0 spins

That’s right… we are officially on a two-race no-spin streak, which feels suspiciously responsible for this race team.

Every lap means more learning, and even on nights when we come up short, there’s still a lot to take away. That’s what we’re here for… seat time, figuring things out, and trying to keep all the body panels attached until the trailer door closes. 😂

🏁 Race Day at TCS 🏁

Well… she won’t be winning any beauty contests tonight. (Car or driver 🤣)

Had to make the executive decision between working on the body or doing maintenance… and I figured it’s better to run good and look terrible than look beautiful and run horrible. So the bodywork lost that battle.

We’ll be rocking the electrical tape couture again tonight… but we’re greased up, checked over, and ready to make laps. Priorities. 💅🔧😂

A bath and cosmetic upgrades will have to wait for another day.

Tonight’s goals are simple: stay pointed in the right direction, don’t lose any more body panels, and finish in one piece.

Here’s a peek at what all the hard work from so many people looks like for me. 🏁

Videos like this have helped me a ton. Last year, 28 laps would’ve taken me 2–3 race nights to acquire once you factored in my elite-level participation in the DNF category. 😳

It was some kind of miracle we even made it to the track this past week. A couple hours before the race I was under the rear end half crying, half motivationally speaking to a set of gears while trying to lift awkwardly heavy chunks of metal, hoping it would somehow make me go faster. 😂

It’s amazing how many people it takes just to make 28 laps happen. Crew members made up of dedicated friends, their families, my family, sponsors, people feeding us, people who got “voluntold” to work on the car and hauler, and everyone in between. It’s truly a whole community effort. 🏁😂

I had an incredible night turning all 28 laps, and I’m really hoping this momentum keeps building all season long. 🏁

As a wise man once said: “Well, that’s still more seat time than drag racing.” 🤣
