We are excited to announce the first round of player signings for the 2026 Northwoods League season. Returning under the direction of second-year manager Joe Ellison are catcher Trey Fikes, shortstop Manny Alberto, and pitcher Makaio Cisneros. Close to a dozen players, who played for the Cats in 2025, are scheduled to return this year.

Former Thunder Bay Border Cats outfielder Jacob Robson has been named to the Canadian roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The 20-team tournament takes place March 5-17 in four different locations with the championship game scheduled for Miami, Florida.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Brendon Kerr after a courageous battle with cancer. Brendon was a beloved part of the Border Cats family, serving as our clubhouse manager during the early years — including the unforgettable 2005 Northwoods League Championship season.

Brendon’s dedication, hard work, and great sense of humor left a lasting impact on everyone who had the chance to know him. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Kerr family, and to all of Brendon’s many friends and colleagues. He will always be remembered fondly by the Border Cats community.
