Community Update from the Three Hills Titans:
We are aware there has been some confusion regarding recent game cancellations. We were navigating a complex situation and as a result, did not provide public updates prior to the games so we would like to clarify the situation for our community & supporters now.
Following a reported case of meningitis connected to the Onion Lake and Lloydminster areas as identified through an Alert by Indigenous Services Canada, the Three Hills Titans took precautionary measures to mitigate potential health risks for our team. After careful consideration, the difficult decision was made to cancel the March 8th home game against Diamond Valley Rockies as well as the March 13th - 15th away games against OLCN Scouts.
Upon learning of the Alert, the home game against Diamond Valley Rockies was cancelled as they had recently played OLCN Scouts in Onion Lake during the time in question. We notified the OLCN Scouts and the USPHL on March 9th that we could not attend our scheduled away games against the OLCN Scouts because of the same concerns.
As one of two host locations for the upcoming playoff games beginning this weekend between Three Hills Titans, Hanna Havoc and OLCN Scouts, we chose to prioritize the health and safety of all players, staff, billets, families, and communities involved above simply ensuring recent scheduled games were played. We recognize that these cancellations were disappointing for players & teams, supporters, and the broader hockey community. It was also extremely disappointing for our own team, as it brought our regular season to an unexpectedly early end.
Whether you join us virtually or at the rink during playoffs, we thank you for your continued support of the Three Hills Titans.
