Welcome to Aurora Dance Academy

As we step into a brand-new dance season, we wanted to give you a little look inside a place that means so much more to us than just a dance studio.

This is our second home. Our safe space. A place to learn, grow, make mistakes, build confidence, create friendships and, of course, DANCE. 💜

We take so much pride in our studio and have always tried to make choices that support the safety and well-being of our dancers. Even the things you may not notice like what’s underneath their feet matter to us!

Our studios feature glassless mirrors and Marley flooring, with different supportive flooring systems underneath. Our downstairs studio has a sprung floor, while both of our upstairs studios have gym flooring beneath the Marley. These layers help provide cushioning and shock absorption, making the floor more forgiving on dancers’ bodies through all those jumps, leaps, turns and long hours of training.

Our waiting room is also designed with our dance families in mind. 💜 With plenty of seating and TVs to watch classes, parents are always welcome to stay close by and support their dancer.

Because sometimes our littlest dancers just need to know their grown-up is nearby or need one more hug before class (or even halfway through!). 🥹 And that’s okay. We want dancers to feel safe, comfortable and supported while they build the confidence to step into the studio on their own

And throughout the studio, you’ll see pieces of our history, our trophies, awards, photos and memories from the many dancers who have called Aurora home over the years. 🏆

We’re proud of the space we’ve created, but even more proud of the people who fill it.

Welcome to Aurora. 💜
Come as you are. Dance as you are. You belong here.

Meet Miss Kennedy 🤸‍♀️✨

Born and raised in Thompson, Miss Kennedy graduated from high school in 2022 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2025.

Kennedy’s athletic background is rooted in gymnastics. She trained with the Thompson Tumblers for nine years, competing in dozens of competitions throughout her gymnastics career. In 2017, she earned the title of Provincial Champion in her age category! After an injury led her to step away from competing, Kennedy turned her focus to coaching in 2019 and discovered a new passion.

In 2022, she took on the role of Head Competitive and Recreational Coach with the Thompson Tumblers and has been helping build and run the club ever since.

This year, Kennedy is excited to step outside the gymnastics world and expand her knowledge through dance. With so much of gymnastics choreography drawing from ballet and dance technique, she is looking forward to learning from Aurora’s teachers, strengthening her skills, and bringing that knowledge back into her own coaching.

Aurora already holds a special place in Kennedy’s heart, as her sister danced with the studio for several years. She’s excited to now begin her own chapter at Aurora, learn something new, and share her years of coaching experience with our dancers!

Meet Miss Kaitlyn 🤍🩰

Born and raised in Thompson, Miss Kaitlyn’s love for dance began at seven years old. She joined recreational dance at Aurora in 2013 and moved into competitive dance the following year, continuing to dance on and off throughout her childhood and teen years. Over the years, she has also participated in a variety of adult classes, including Cardio HipHop, which she has had the opportunity to teach as well!

Kaitlyn has always had a passion for working with children. She began working at the Boys and Girls Club while still in high school and, after graduating in 2017, went on to earn her Early Childhood Education diploma in 2020. She currently works with kindergarten-aged children at Kiddies Northern Preschool and has continued to build her knowledge through workshops, classes, and training focused on child development, learning, and growth.

This year, Miss Kaitlyn is bringing two things she loves together dance and working with little ones! As our Littles Ballet teacher, she is excited to create a fun and encouraging space where our youngest dancers can build confidence, explore movement, learn new skills, and discover their own love for dance. She can’t wait for a year filled with tiny toes, big smiles, and lots of ballet magic!

Meet Miss Terri 💙

Miss Terri moved to Thompson in 2005, where she began raising her family. Her journey into the dance world began when her two daughters started dancing at just two years old one in 2009 and the other in 2011. One has since graduated from dance, while her youngest is now entering her final year! 💕

Over the years, Terri went from dedicated dance mom to becoming a teacher herself. In 2020, she completed her Module 1 certification with Acrobatic Arts, as well as her Penalty Box certification, and began teaching Acro. She has also taught Cardio HipHop for adults, where she quite literally brings the “Joy” to dance fitness! 😉

Today, Miss Terri shares her energy and enthusiasm with our dancers through Acro and Cirque. She loves helping her students build strength, confidence, and new skills while encouraging them to challenge themselves, try new things, and most importantly have plenty of fun along the way!

Meet Ms. Bailey 💙

Born and raised in Thompson, Ms. Bailey has had a love for dance for as long as she can remember. She began dancing at the age of five and continued until she was 17, training primarily in Ballet, Jazz, and Pointe. Throughout her years as a dancer, she completed several RAD exams, competed in numerous dance competitions, and even spent a few years dancing alongside Miss Ashley!

Now a mom of three daughters, dance continues to be a big part of Ms. Bailey’s life. Her oldest daughter has been dancing since she was just two years old, now in her last year of dance making dance something their family gets to share together.

Ms. Bailey joined the Aurora teaching team in 2020 and has loved being back in the studio—this time on the other side of the classroom! She loves helping dancers build their skills, confidence, and reach their full potential, both in class and on the competition stage. 💕

💕 Meet Miss Addison!

Dance has been part of Addison’s life for as long as she can remember. She started dancing at just 2 years old, and as the daughter of Miss Ashley, she’s been part of Aurora since before Aurora was even Aurora!

Over the years, Addison has trained in and continues to train in all styles of dance, becoming a well-rounded and dedicated dancer. Throughout her competitive dance journey, she has earned numerous special awards and consistently placed highly at competitions.

This season, Addison is taking on an exciting role as a teacher and will be sharing her love for her favourite style, Lyrical! She can’t wait to bring her passion, experience, and love of dance into the classroom and inspire the next generation of Aurora dancers. 💕

💕 Meet Miss Ashley!

Ashley is returning to where her love of dance began, this time as a teacher! After dancing for over 10 years, she is so excited to be back at Aurora and step into this new role.

Growing up at Aurora, Ashley trained in every style offered, developing a special love for Acro and Lyrical. During her years as a dancer, she also had the opportunity to assist with classes, giving her an early taste of being on the teaching side of the studio.

Now, she’s excited to share everything she has learned with the next generation of dancers, create new memories at the studio she grew up in, and help her students discover their own love of dance.

Ashley can’t wait to meet everyone and begin this new chapter at Aurora! 💕

Hello! My name is Rebecca, and I am very excited to be teaching at the studio for another season.

I am born and raised in Thompson, MB. I was a Burntwood Bobcat in Elementary and a R.D Parker Trojan in High School (Class of 2021!).

I have been dancing at the studio since 2017, started competition in 2018, and teaching since 2021-2024. In 2024-2025, I moved to Brandon, Mb, but realized I missed my home, so I came back in January 2026 and started teaching competitive classes.

Growing up, trying to find a sport or hobby was very difficult for me. I tried soccer, baseball, bowling, etc. Then I tried dance, and I absolutely loved it. To me, dance is the one thing that helps me when I’m stressed or need something to calm my nerves. The studio for me has always been a safe space and my second home. From the age of 13/14, I was there 24/7 training, assisting classes, and making memories with friends.

I have various teaching certificates and am currently working on getting more with other programs.
- Once upon a Ballet: Teaching Toddler Dance, Teaching Primary Ballet, Teaching Preschool Dance, Teaching Elementary Ballet.
- CLI Studios: Strength Training and Injury Prevention, Choreography and Composition, Intro to Preschool Dance.

Outside of being a dance teacher, I am a Healthy Baby Facilitator at the Northern Health Region. You may ask, “What is Healthy Baby?” This program offers support groups to communities serviced by NRHA, outside of Thompson. We have monthly groups and meet other families who are expecting or have babies under 12 months, learn about babies, have a snack, do an activity, and have a fun time overall.

I look forward to teaching competitive Ballet/Jazz/Lyrical to the minis and having some fun in the Tap/Jazz/Cirque/Lyrical classes.

See you this season,
Miss Rebecca 🦢🩰
