It is with a very heavy heart that we announce we will not be reopening for classes.
We have always run the dojo at a loss or at best a break-even, because this isn't our career. It is for our love of the martial arts, the joy of seeing a student suddenly understand a complicated concept, and the improvements we see in people's lives as a result of what they've learned.
That being said, paying bills without any offsetting revenue because of the government's restrictions is just not sustainable any longer. We will add ours to a long list of businesses killed by government policy. This is not a commentary on the necessity of lack thereof for these restrictions, but a statement of fact.
We will miss our students. We hope you will look back on your classes fondly, and confidently live your life with courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit. Thank you all for your support during our time operating.
A special thanks to our landlords. I'm not sure if they'd want me to share their names, but we appreciate how understanding and accommodating they've been during this time.
When the pandemic is completely over, we may be back. Personally, I can never completely give up my love for the art and I would be willing to teach the occasional seminar if a I were approached by an interested group.
