Ready to get moving, try something different, and have a little fun?

Our Adult Step Dance 4-Week Program begins the week of September 14 at our Coxheath studio — and you only have to commit to four weeks.

Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced dancer, come learn and enjoy the rhythm of traditional Cape Breton and Celtic step dance in a welcoming, supportive community.

💚 Kids are back to school… now what?

Now it’s time to get back to the things that help them grow, connect and feel confident.

Dance offers so much more than steps — confidence, discipline, friendships, creativity and a sense of belonging. And at Forrester, dancers also have the opportunity to connect with and experience our Cape Breton, Scottish and Celtic traditions through the specialized dance forms we teach.

Our 2026–27 dance year begins the week of September 14, and some classes are already close to full.

Have you heard about an incredible show our FORRESTER SCHOOL OF DANCE | CAPE BRETON and musical friends are performing in this October during the Celtic Colours International Festival festival?
Along with our friends, the Barra MacNeils - we are celebrating two very special women, our iconic dancing mothers, Eileen Forrester & Jean MacNeil for their extraordinary influence and contribution to Scottish and Celtic music and dance right here in and beyond. This show will not only celebrate their lives and legacy through music and dance, but their roles as our mothers and all the things that made them special. 🥹

Here’s a wee clip from our FORRESTER SCHOOL OF DANCE | CAPE BRETON and musical friend Shawn MacDonald. Our very own Forrester musical ensemble will consist of dear friends who’ve been a significant part of our music and dance journey over the many years. ⚔️💚

We’re wishing all of our dancers, families, teachers and friends a wonderful September and a happy start to the school year.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back into the studio as our 61st season of dance begins the week of September 14th.

❤️ Meet Ms. Shannon

Every story has a beginning. And every beautiful story eventually turns the page.

For 61 seasons, Forrester School of Dance has been part of the lives of generations of Cape Breton dancers — a story created by my mother, Dr. Eileen Forrester, and built on an extraordinary love of dance.

For more than 35 years, I had the privilege of teaching alongside my mom. Dance was our passion, our creative language, and such a special part of the life we shared.

Losing her has changed me in ways I never could have imagined. And now, I’m learning how to turn the page.

To honour what she created.
To find my way.
And to write the next chapter.

Because of everything I’ve created and explored over the years, one thing that’s become evident….dance remains my heart and soul. 💕⚔️

And perhaps the most beautiful part of this next chapter is that I don’t have to write it alone.

It will be written by the little ones taking their first steps, the dancers finding their confidence, the adults returning to something they once loved, the friendships made, and the lives shaped along the way.

We aren’t simply building dancers. We’re helping shape the people they will become.

So this September, I invite you to become part of our next generation. Our next chapter. Our next story.

Maybe your child will be part of it.
Maybe you will.
