This CBC report on 9/11 . . . WOW (*Coincidentally, by my former girlfriend Linda Kelly from Hornes Road). I was surfing at Lawrencetown Beach on that day, a day off from the Halifax outdoor store that I had owned. When I got to the beach, the radio said that second tower had come down. The realization then hit that this was intentional. I told the beach staff in their building, they just looked at and didn't say anything. I tried again to explain the gravity of the situation, but I still could not get a reaction from any of them. I went into the water, and had to get right out. I went home and told the carpenters working on our bathroom. The older man broke down in tears when I turned the TV on and we all saw the horror together. Being in his early 70's, he knew more of the scope on how horrific this really was, compared to the two other younger people in the room (including me). I do remember warning him before I turned the TV on that this was going to be beyond horrific. I then drove to the Halifax Airport to help. I drove some people into the Mother House at Mount St. Vincent for their emergency accommodations. After that, they spent ten years trying to get in touch with me. Then a day or so before the fifteenth anniversary, they hit the right email and got me. I first asked them if they needed another lift :) I then told them that helping them was nothing special, just natural. Their flight was initially delayed. If their flight had gone through as scheduled, they would have died in the towers. They worked there. It is now 25 years later. Again . . .WOW. I am quite moved by this today. Relating to that old carpenters reaction at a deeper level now.
