Letter to Staff and Volunteers – Surrey Knights Home Opener Delay
Dear Surrey Knights Staff and Volunteers,
I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the unfortunate and disappointing delay to our Surrey Knights home opener scheduled for this evening.
It has been brought to my attention that the licence for the Cloverdale Hockey Club has been temporarily placed on hold due to some formality by PJHL Commissioner Trevor Alto, under the direction of our Chair of the Board, Doug Patterson of the Richmond Sockeyes. This decision has caused tonight’s cancellation and I deeply regret the inconvenience, disruption, and embarrassment this has caused not only to our dedicated staff and volunteers, but also to our players, parents, sponsors, and the wider Surrey community who stand behind this team.
I recognize the amount of effort, planning, and commitment that each of you put into preparing for tonight’s event. To have that work set aside at the last minute is deeply disappointing, and I want you to know that your time and dedication do not go unnoticed.
Moving forward, our new official home opener date will be next Thursday, September 11th. On that night, we will not only celebrate the beginning of our season but also take a moment of silence to honor and remember all those impacted by the tragic events of September 11th years ago.
Andy, I kindly ask that you inform all of our sponsors, players, and parents of this rescheduled date so that they are properly updated and reassured of our commitment to delivering a successful season.
Once again, I offer my sincerest apologies to each of you. The Surrey Knights are built on the hard work of our staff and volunteers, and I remain grateful for your patience, professionalism, and support through this setback. Together, we will regroup and ensure our home opener next week is an event worthy of our players, families, and community.
With appreciation,
John Craighead
Owner, Surrey Knights
