As parents, we just want to see our children flourish in everything they do, but sometimes our own fears can get in the way. We hover or push all issues out of the way so our kids don’t get hurt, whether physically or emotionally. While in the short term this feels better, allows for emotional safety or allows for more success, in the long run it may limit your child.
This may sound a bit odd, but let them experience the emotional and physical part of failure! It’s through trials and tribulations, advocating for themselves, and trying new things that the real growth starts to happen. Experimenting, finding their own voice, experiencing failure and learning to stand back up and try again, these are all things that help build resilience and give children the skills they need to navigate more confidently through life.
