Attention athletes! ๐Ÿโœจ

In partnership with weโ€™ll be providing our friends with an unforgettable summer of athletic development.

From July 4th-August 19th, 2022, athletes will take part in a 7 week, 21 session high performance strength & conditioning program. Weโ€™ll focus on vertical development, strength, power & speed.

This program is open to both girls (led by ) & boys (led by ). All athletes from U14-U17 are encouraged to register.

As many of our track athletes take part in provincials this week, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate a major highlight from last night.

Congrats to St. John Paul Academy Royals & our girl Carys on winning gold yesterday in the 4 x 100.

Is the end of school stressing you out? Are you mentally burnt out? Are you struggling to stay motivated to workout? ๐Ÿ’™

You are not alone! While working out, and taking time for yourself may seem like the last thing you have time for during finals, we guarantee a little self care & movement will chase away those June blues. โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

Here are our top 3 tips for thriving during this final push:
1. Move your body! Make time for your workouts. Prioritizing your workouts have been clinically shown to improve your focus, retention, memory, and mood. Get your coolness over here for a workout asap. ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. Fuel like a champion. Just like your body, your mind needs fuel to perform optimally. A protein rich breakfast, snacks throughout the day, lots of fruit & veggies are key to fuelling like a champion. ๐Ÿ“š

3. Time management: amongst all the studying, schedule in downtime. Give yourself permission to include in time with friends, self care and decompressing activities.

To all the Mint mamas in our community, we love the heck out of you. You truly have given our program so much life and love over the years, and we wouldnโ€™t be here without your consistent support. We see you, and we see the tireless effort you put into raising your beautiful girls. The hours you spend driving, being a listening ear, working, cleaning/cooking, and supporting your girls and your families is inspiring.

REFLECTION TIME - for athletes, parents & coaches

Letโ€™s take a minute to reflect athletes. Grab a pen & paper and write down the answers to these 4 questions.

1. Is it important to you to get better at your sport & why?

2. What specific skills do you need to improve on right now? Not sure? Ask your coaches or watch back your game tape.

3. Whatโ€™s your game plan to improve these areas of your athletic development?

4. Last, but one of the MOST important aspects..Is your game plan for athletic development measurable & consistent?

Question 4 is where we see the greatest confusion for our athletes, parents, and coaches. From camps, to clinics, private skill development to โ€œshowcaseโ€ opportunities, there is A LOT to choose from. Itโ€™s confusing right? But have you ever stopped to ask, is this opportunity, are these specific coaches helping me improve on the areas I need the greatest support with? Am I seeing tangible results? Am I just doing more for the sake of doing more, in hopes that it will improve my skills?
