We had the pleasure of welcoming Sempai Georg back to the dojo during his visit from Japan. Georg received his Shodan certification with the dojo in 2019, and I'm proud to have him as a part of our dojo family.

A big congratulations to you and your family on your daughter Diane’s wedding! Wishing Diane and her new husband a lifetime of happiness, love, and wonderful adventures together.

It was truly a pleasure teaching Diane and watching her grow into the incredible person she has become. Moments like these remind us of the lasting connections built through the dojo. 🥋

BACK TO SCHOOL — BACK TO THE DOJO!

The school year is underway, and it’s the perfect time to get active, build confidence, and make new friends!

Back to school means reconnecting with old acquaintances and meeting new classmates. Why not invite them to come check out the dojo?

At The Academy of Martial Arts, students develop more than just martial arts skills. They build confidence, discipline, focus, fitness, respect, and self-defence skills in a positive and supportive environment.

It was a wonderful, spontaneous Wednesday evening at a campsite in Langley, celebrating more than three decades of friendship, martial arts, great memories—and, of course, a belated birthday cake for the dojo's senior belt, Sempai Linda.

After all these years, the friendship remains strong, the martial arts connection continues, and the memories keep adding up.

And let’s be honest… you could never be late for cake!

And on Thursday night, we had an early 70th birthday celebration for my dear friend, Bob, whom I’ve had the privilege of knowing since he was about twenty-eight. That’s a lot of mileage, memories, adventures, and friendship in between! We started training in the martial arts in the early 80s, and to date, we still stand side by side.

We had a lovely day at Garry Point in Steveston, simply taking our time and enjoying the beauty around us. We watched the kites dancing in the sky—and yes, people… pigs do fly! 🐷🪁😄
Sometimes, slowing down and enjoying the little things is exactly what we need. 🌊☀️ An ice cream and hot dog at the beach, followed by a bowl of noodle soup at a sidewalk café. Nothing fancy—just simple pleasures that go a long way.

It was an early start at the dojo for a good old crash-and-bang session with one of my top guns—who happens to be a third of my age! 🥋💥

All said and done, it was a lot of fun, a great workout, and a good reminder that age is just a number… although the recovery time might tell a different story! 😂

Always good to push yourself, train hard, and have some fun along the way.
