She started lifting weights at 43. She’s 53 now.

Before weight training, she had already lost a lot of weight through under-eating and excessive cardio. She had great cardiovascular endurance, but very little muscle.

When she first came to the gym, her goals were simple: get stronger and get rid of her joint pain.

Then she fell in love with lifting.

10 years later, she’s stronger, has built an incredible amount of muscle, competed on a bodybuilding stage, and lives a completely different lifestyle.

And the best part? She started at 43.

So if you think 43 is too old to start, it’s not.
53 isn’t too old.
75 isn’t too old.

That’s one of the most beautiful things about the gym. You don’t have to be young, athletic, or experienced to walk through those doors.

You can start where you are, lift what you can, and get stronger from there. ❤️ 💪🏼

3 months. 36 sessions.

Proper routine, 3–5 workouts a week + around a 250 calorie surplus… and boom 💥 body starts changing.

More muscle. More strength. Better shape.

But does that mean you should copy exactly what he did? No.

What worked for him might not work for you.

The real skill is figuring out what YOUR body needs — and there are ways to figure that out. 💪

Not every exercise needs to be complicated to be effective.

Understand what you’re trying to train, control the movement, and make every rep count. 💪

Smith Machine Glute-Biased Bulgarian Split Squat

A few cues:
• Take a longer stride to allow more hip flexion
• Slight forward torso lean
• Keep most of your weight on the front leg
• Let the knee travel naturally — don’t force the shin vertical
• Control the way down and get a good stretch through the glute
• Drive through the whole foot and extend the hip as you come up

Train with purpose.

A lot can change between two gym mirror pics.

Different bodies. Different phases of life. A lot more memories.

From the early days of getting to know each other… to building a life together.

Still training. Still growing. Still taking the same damn gym selfies. 😂❤️

Quick clarification 👇

When I say kickbacks alone won’t grow your glutes, I’m not saying kickbacks can’t build muscle. They absolutely can when progressively overloaded and performed with enough intensity.

The point is that higher muscle activation doesn’t automatically mean greater muscle growth.

Research suggests certain kickback variations can create high upper-glute activation, but if your goal is to maximize overall glute development, I wouldn’t rely on kickbacks alone.

Use them as part of the toolbox — alongside movements that challenge the glutes through different ranges, muscle lengths, and movement patterns.

Activation ≠ hypertrophy. Train the muscle, don’t just chase the burn. 🍑

Delayed gratification: choosing what you want MOST over what you want RIGHT NOW.

Temporary sacrifice. Long-term reward.
