Great advice from Carl Hester

Neat history, maybe put a visit to see them on your bucket list?

Neat history, maybe put a visit to see them on your bucket list?

🐴 The famous rearing marble horses of Paris were made to stand at a king's horse trough.

Many people picture the Marly Horses at the Place de la Concorde, but the originals are no longer there. They are in the Louvre, in the Richelieu wing's "cour Marly," and the horses at the Concorde are marble copies by Michel Bourbon.

Sculptor Guillaume Coustou carved the pair from Carrara marble. King Louis XV commissioned them in 1743 for the horse trough at the entrance to the grounds of his chateau de Marly. They were made in two years, 1743 to 1745, and installed at Marly in 1745. They were meant to replace two sculptures by Coysevox, Mercury on Pegasus and Pegasus Renown of Horses, which had moved to the Tuileries in 1719.

In 1794 the originals were moved to the Place de la Concorde and restored in 1840 by Louis-Denis Caillouette. After 1984 they went indoors, because the 14 July military parades were judged to be damaging them.

There is one more surprise. The horses were the central motif of the 819-line TV test card used on TF1 from 1953 to 1983, so viewers saw them whenever the test card was on.

Which horse statue in the world would you most like to see in person?

This is a great reminder

Not everyone watching you ride is rooting for you. And that’s okay.

Some will critique your position.
Some will question your decisions.
Some will compare your progress to their own.
And some will quietly watch you ride, wishing they had the courage to chase their own goals.

But here’s something worth remembering…

Not every opinion deserves a place in your head.

The horse world can be loud. Everyone has an opinion about how you should ride, what you should buy, who you should train with, and what success is supposed to look like.

But at the end of the day, those people aren’t the ones putting in your hours, facing your fears, making your sacrifices, or building a partnership with your horse.

You are.

So take the lessons. Welcome the constructive criticism. Be a student of the sport. But learn to recognize the difference between someone trying to make you better and someone simply trying to make you doubt yourself.

Ride your horse. Trust your journey. Celebrate your progress, even when nobody else notices.

And remember, while someone might be judging your ride, someone else is watching you and finding the courage to keep going.

Stop riding for approval. Start riding with purpose.

The only story you need to be writing is your own.

Ashlie Connolly and her horse 🥰

This is my daughter’s horse, Smart Kool Sox, and this is their very first year together. ❤️🐴

In such a short time, they’ve already accomplished so much. They’ve spent the year doing 4-H and lots of showing, and watching their progress together has been incredible. They’ve worked hard, learned from each other, and grown into such a wonderful team.

Sox truly is the perfect horse for my daughter, and I couldn’t be more proud of the partnership they’ve built. They could really use a new saddle, and winning one would be such an amazing blessing for them as they continue learning, showing, and making memories together. 🐴❤️🏆

Here’s to many more rides, shows, and adventures for this special pair!
