Reflecting on a pretty incredible week at Stony Plain Curling! 🥌🖤💛

On Tuesday, September 8th, we hosted our AGM with nearly 100 people in attendance! What an amazing show of enthusiasm and support for the future of curling in our community.

A special thank you to Keatyn Bauer, Communications Coordinator, and Kristine Olson, Director, with West Parkland Gas Co-op Ltd., for joining us and bringing greetings on behalf of our Naming Rights Sponsor.

🥌 GREAT SEMI-FINAL FINISH, TEAM EDWARDS! 🥌

A huge congratulations to Team Edwards - Maggie Edwards, Natalie Kennedy, Ashley Jost, Brinley Braden and Coach Kim Fandrick ... on a fantastic semi-final finish at the Curlers Corner U15 in Calgary this weekend! 👏👏

And what a finish it was — last rock in an EXTRA END! 😮🥌 That’s curling!

We’re also very excited to welcome these ladies to Stony Plain Curling this season! 💛🖤 They’ll be hitting the ice in our Wednesday Sweeping Sisters League as:

Curling Canada is formally adopting the World Curling rulebook, beginning with the upcoming season, Canadian curling rules and those governing the rest of the world will now be one and the same moving forward.

We’re thrilled to introduce the first of MANY curling events coming to Stony Plain Curling this season!

🥌 CALLING ALL U15 ATHLETES!

Get ready for an action-packed weekend of skills, competition, learning and FUN as Curling Canada’s U15 RockFest returns for another season!

⭐ Stony Plain Qualifier
📅 February 20 & 21, 2027
📍 Stony Plain Curling

New this year: Athletes must compete in an in-person qualifier to earn their spot at Curling Canada’s U15 RockFest West, taking place April 14–16 in Okotoks.

There are four qualifiers to choose from — and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome young curlers to OUR HOUSE in February!

⏰ Registration opens September 1 at NOON!

The best thing we all can do is show up, put a team in a bonspiel, help out your ice maker, offer prizes for a fundraiser, sell tickets, cook something for a spiel, show up at a meeting, sponsor a junior team, do something, but show up for your curling centre this season.

🎬🥌 What a great night in Stony Plain!

A big THANK YOU to the Town of Stony Plain for inviting us to showcase our upcoming curling leagues at Movie Night — and to all the staff and volunteers who helped make the evening such a success.
And, of course, a special thank you to Mother Nature for finally turning off the tap! 🌧️➡️🌤️

The Lawn Curling game was a fun addition, and judging by the action in the pavilion, the heat of competition was definitely turned up! 🔥🥌

🎉 Congratulations to Laura Pawlechko, winner of our Curling Experience draw!

This fall, Laura and up to 8 friends will join us in our brand-new facility for a night of:
🥌 On-ice instruction from a certified coach
🎯 A fun curling game
🥂 Post-game beverages
🍿 Snacks
😄 And plenty of laughs!
