✨ New This Season: Lyrical Dance for Ages 8+! ✨

We are excited to announce that we will be offering Lyrical dance starting at age 8 this season! 💙

Lyrical combines the technique of ballet with the freedom and expression of jazz, allowing dancers to tell stories through movement and connect deeply with the music. Dancers will develop strength, flexibility, artistry, and emotional expression while building a strong technical foundation.

This beautiful style is perfect for dancers who love to express themselves and explore movement in a creative way.

📅 Registration opens June 23 for current dancers and June 24 for all dancers.

Our auditions and assessments were a huge success, and we are so proud of every dancer who came out and gave their best effort. It was wonderful to see so much passion, dedication, and excitement for the season ahead. 💙

We are already looking forward to an amazing dance season starting this September and can't wait to see our dancers continue to grow, learn, and shine.

✨ New This Year: Contemporary Dance ✨

We are so excited to introduce Contemporary dance to our studio this season for dancers ages 10 & up, taught by Miss Kayla!

Contemporary is an expressive and creative style that blends ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern dance. It encourages dancers to explore movement, emotion, musicality, storytelling, improvisation, and dynamic choreography, while building strength, control, and personal expression. 💫

Because this is our first year offering Contemporary, dancers interested in registering will complete a placement assessment during our Intensive auditions. Please note this is not an audition for Intensive—this assessment is simply to help place dancers in the most appropriate Contemporary class based on age, experience, and readiness.

📅 Registration opens June 23 for current students and June 24 for everyone.

📍 Reminder: Assessments for all dancers will take place tomorrow.

🌸 Spring Session Registration is Now Open! 🌸

We are excited to share that registration for our Spring Session is officially open!

This session is a great opportunity for dancers to keep moving, try something new, build confidence, and enjoy dance in a fun and supportive environment.

As Stoney Brook Dance Company transitions to operating as a not-for-profit organization, all new and returning dancers will need to create a new account through the Stoney Brook Dance Nonprofit Association Inc. registration portal before registering for classes.

✨ Special Spring Session Discount ✨
Thanks to a ParticipACTION grant, all dancers will receive 50% off their first class — applied to their most expensive class if registering for more than one!

We are so grateful for this support, which helps make dance more accessible for families and gives more dancers the opportunity to participate.

We're excited to welcome Certified Yoga Fitness Instructor Shawna to our summer programming lineup!

🌟 Yoga Fusion with Shawna
📅 Thursdays starting June 11
🕠 5:30 PM (1 hour class)
📍Stoney Brook Dance Nonprofit Association Inc.

Join us for a 10-week Yoga Fusion session designed to help you move, strengthen, and feel your best this summer.

Shawna describes Yoga Fusion as:

"In these classes, I blend yoga poses and breathwork with some fitness moves from Pilates and barre to increase movement, mobility and flexibility to improve both mental and physical health."

Whether you're looking to improve flexibility, increase mobility, build strength, reduce stress, or simply take time for yourself each week, this class offers a welcoming environment for all experience levels.

💰 Program Cost:
• 10-week session: $200
• Drop-in rate: $25 per class

💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to Miss Karla 💙

After more than 25 years of dedicated service to the Steinbach dance community, Miss Karla Coldwell is retiring from her leadership role at Stoney Brook Dance Company.

Since joining our studio in 1999 and becoming Artistic Director in 2004, Miss Karla has helped shape Stoney Brook Dance into the thriving community it is today. Through her vision, passion, and dedication, generations of dancers have discovered confidence, friendship, discipline, and a lifelong love of dance.

More than a teacher, Miss Karla has been a mentor, role model, cheerleader, and friend to countless dancers and families. Her kindness, encouragement, and unwavering belief in others have left a lasting impact on our studio and community.

While this chapter comes to a close, we are grateful that this is not goodbye. We know many dancers and families will continue to enjoy seeing her around the studio.

Thank you, Miss Karla, for your passion, your friendship, and for believing in generations of dancers. Your legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.
