Player of the Game from our u16 Boys Academy 1 Team is Omar Neville!

We were able to squeak in an exhibition game against NLBT before club league season starts. This team is in for an exciting year! A ton of bright spots, and Omar was certainly one of them 💪

🏀 COACHING STAFF 2026-2027 - ANN BLACKMORE 🏀

We’re excited to have Ann (Murrin) Blackmore joining our coaching staff this season as Head Coach of our U10 Girls program!

Basketball has been a huge part of Ann’s life, both as a player and a coach. Her playing career included representing Newfoundland & Labrador on numerous provincial teams, including the NL Canada Games Women’s Basketball Team, before going on to play five seasons with the Memorial University Sea-Hawks.

During her time with Memorial, Ann earned AUS All-Star honours in every season, helped the Sea-Hawks capture the 1999–2000 AUS Championship, and was named the 1996–97 AUS Rookie of the Year and to the CIS All-Canadian Rookie Team. She was also recognized for her athletic achievement, sportsmanship, leadership, and academic success throughout her university career.

Ann has continued to give back to the game through coaching, including with the St. Bonaventure’s College High School Girls Basketball Team and her son’s Grade 5 Boys team at Rennie’s River Elementary.

This season, Ann is especially excited to coach her daughter and our U10 Girls, helping young players develop their skills, work ethic, confidence, competitive spirit, and teamwork - while building a lifelong love for the game.

We’re thrilled to have someone with Ann’s experience, passion, and love for basketball leading our U10 Girls this season. We can’t wait to see this group grow together! 👏🏀

COACHING STAFF 2026-2027 - ANDREW WOODLAND 🏀

We’re excited to welcome Andrew Woodland back for his second season with SJMB, where he will continue as Head Coach of our U12 Girls program!

Andrew brings a deep passion for basketball and a wealth of coaching experience to SJMB. After taking some time away from the sidelines, Andrew returned to coaching last season and quickly made an impact within our program.

His coaching experience includes working with PWC U17, the Canada Basketball Centre for Performance, Team NL at the U19 Club Championships in Laval, Quebec, and the Cavs Club at the Spalding World Youth Basketball Championships in Kona, Hawaii, where the team captured a Division 1 World Championship.

Growing up immersed in basketball, Andrew has always had a genuine passion for learning and understanding the game. Today, that passion continues as he helps young athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for basketball.

As Head Coach of our U12 Girls program, Andrew is committed to creating a positive, competitive environment where athletes can develop both on and off the court.

We’re thrilled to have Andrew back for another season and can’t wait to see what he and our U12 Girls accomplish together! 👏🏀
