** Senior Recap – Saturday, June 20, 2026**
Metro Property Mgmt Knights - 2
McNiven's Pub Shamrocks - 4
The weather cleared Saturday morning and Smallwood field enjoyed a refreshing breeze as the sun broke through, highlighting the bed blanket of dandelions in the outfield. As the temperatures rose, it evaporated what remained of a dreary Friday on the East Coast, and set the stage for a great matchup between the Metro Property Management Knights and the McNiven’s Pub Shamrocks. The Shamrocks entered Saturday having suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of arch rival Holy Cross, while the Knights came into the matchup looking to rebound from their first loss of the season where they ran into a buzzsaw performance from Storm ace Aaron Peach. The green and gold turned to reliable Jaxson Gulliver, while the Knights gave the ball to Jacob Skiffington in hope of picking up a big win against the defending champs.
Gulliver went clean in the top of the first, sitting the Knights down in order, while the offense gave him a quick lead and Steven Abbott, Scott Stockley and Mike D**e strung together three consecutive base knocks to put the Shamrocks up 1-0. Gulliver went back to work, going clean again in the second but Skiffington answered back sitting the Shamrocks down in order. The Knights carried that momentum into the third and managed to tie the game up as Jacob Baker and Zack Reid picked up hits of their own before Braedy Walsh drove in Reid.
A scoreless 4th inning for both sides brought the tied game to the bottom of the 4th before a timely Alex Curtis line drive single score both D**e and Parker Gulliver pulling the green and gold ahead 3-1. Gulliver proceeded to scatter singles from Thomas Hancock and Reid in the top of the fifth, but Skiffington, who missed the majority of last season due to injury, kept pace keeping the Shamrocks off the board in the bottom.
The Knights would pull to within one in the top of the sixth after Cam Pennell and Jack McCarthy each singled to start the inning, with Pennell scoring on a Nick Williams single, with McCarthy being thrown out at the plate by Josh Langmead to preserve the Shamrock lead. The Shamrocks would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth as veteran Greg Barry bunted for a base hit, cashing Jared Devereaux, while Gulliver would go on to close it out, picking up the complete game win.
Both teams finished with 8 hits a piece. Jacob Skiffington pitched 6 innings on 121 pitches, while Jaxson Gulliver picked up his second complete game of the season on just 81 pitches. Steven Abbott of the Shamrocks has picked up a base hit in each of their four games played this season. Both teams next play on Tuesday, June 23 with the Knights matching up against the Storm and the Shamrocks taking on Holy Cross.
