Capital Hyundai Arena is hiring a part-time/seasonal rink attendant.
A rink attendant is essential to the operation of a hockey rink. A rink attendant’s primary duty is the operation of the ice resurfacing machine (Zamboni on a set schedule (usually hourly), ensuring quality, safe ice for patrons. A rink attendant is also responsible for the supervision of the building and property, providing a safe, clean, welcoming place for patrons.

Responsibilities
• Operation, supervision and general basic maintenance of the facility, ice resurfacing machine, ice edger, and ice plant
• Keeping rink tidy, organized and clean, which includes sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, emptying garbage bins, shoveling, salting, etc.
• Maintaining quality ice and a safe environment for patrons
• Supervision of arena, patrons, facility property, parking lot, etc.
Looking for someone who is
• Detail oriented, responsible, hard-working, organized, motivated, reliable
• Comfortable with supervising a facility and operating the required machinery
• Has a passion for hockey, sports, or previous experience in the sport/industry
• A quick-thinker, good problem-solver, hands-on worker
Requirements
• Must 19 years of age or older
• Basic knowledge of hockey/ice rinks
• Able to shovel snow, lift hockey nets, climb onto ice resurfacing machine, etc.
• Valid driver’s license, previous experience with operating vehicle
• Legally permitted to work in Canada
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Currently living within St. John’s and surrounding area, or relocating to area prior to commencement of job
• Recent clean background check/vulnerable sector check (must be submitted if hired)
• Available most weekday evenings and weekends
