**Hurricanes Secure 13-Run Victory Over Spartans in Thrilling Contest**
Hurricanes registered a hard-fought 13-run victory over NL Spartans Cricket Club in an entertaining encounter that showcased excellent cricket and sportsmanship from both sides.
After winning the toss, Spartans elected to field first and made early inroads with disciplined bowling. Hurricanes' openers Rahib (19 off 18) and Vinai (9 off 10) provided a steady start, but Gurvinder and Nasir kept things tight and removed both batsmen just before the end of the powerplay. At 73/4 after 12 overs, Hurricanes were under pressure and in need of a strong finish.
The momentum shifted thanks to a crucial partnership between Zidan and Arnab. Zidan contributed a composed 31 off 27 balls, while Arnab played an aggressive knock of 43 from just 29 deliveries. Their 62-run stand from only 42 balls lifted Hurricanes to a competitive total of 149/5 in 20 overs. Given the cold conditions and slow outfield, the score proved to be a challenging target.
In reply, Spartans suffered an early setback when Ali Raza was bowled by Rahi in the opening over. Wahid then dismissed the other opener, Raheel, courtesy of a sharp catch at point by Arnab. An early dropped chance of Fahad threatened to prove costly as he and Bakar rebuilt the innings with a 52-run partnership.
However, the turning point came when Fahad (20 off 23) was spectacularly caught by Imtiaz, who completed a brilliant backward-running catch. On the very next delivery, Zidan struck again to dismiss Arafat for a golden duck, putting Hurricanes firmly back in control.
Bakar and Saeed attempted to revive Spartans' chase with a valuable 39-run partnership, but Rahi delivered another breakthrough by clean bowling Saeed in the 18th over. With 25 runs required from the final two overs, Bakar fought valiantly to keep Spartans in contention. However, JT produced an outstanding 19th over and eventually dismissed Bakar, effectively sealing the contest.
Bakar was the standout performer for Spartans with a determined 42 off 49 balls. For Hurricanes, Rahi led the bowling attack with impressive figures of 3/30, while Zidan claimed 2/16, Junayed took 2/19, and Wahid finished with 1/27.
Overall, it was an excellent game of cricket played in great spirit, with both teams displaying strong competitiveness and commendable sportsmanship throughout.
