Katie Keats (She/Her) is a volleyball enthusiast with a commitment to fostering a respectful and positive environment within the sport. As a trained NCCP Development Coach, she strives to ensure that athletes not only develop their skills but also thrive in a safe and supportive community. Katie's passion for volleyball is evident in her approach to coaching, where she focuses on empowering her athletes to reach their full potential.

Katie was head coach for Metro Elite’s 15UG team bringing them to Calgary for Youth Nationals 2026, where the team brought home a Gold Medal from their tiered 8-team bracket. For Youth Nationals in 2025, Katie travelled to Ottawa as head coach of the 14UG team, and in 2024 was an assistant coach for Metro Elite’s 14UB and 17UG teams that travelled to Ottawa and Edmonton. This season, she is excited to meet new athletes for her 16UG team to cultivate their love for the game, while also advancing her own coaching abilities. Katie aims to inspire this generation of players, helping them grow both on and off the court.

Head Coach, U17 Girls
Joanne is a Development-Level Certified Volleyball Coach with 8 years of coaching experience, including 3 years of competitive club program coaching.

She believes athletes grow most when they feel supported to take risks, learn from mistakes, and challenge themselves. Her goal is to create an environment where players compete hard, trust their coaches and teammates, and enjoy the process of improving together.

We’re so grateful for all the sneakers donated so far! 👟🖤They’re now heading to local schools, ready for a new life on the court!

Thanks to your generous donations, multiple kids have also attended our summer and fall clinics free of charge!

Through our shoe drive, we guaranteed that we would give back by offering athletes who may not often have the opportunity to attend specialized volleyball clinics a chance to train with us. 🏐

Steven Bursey is entering his third year coaching with the Metro Elite Volleyball Club and brings six years of volleyball coaching experience. Throughout his coaching career, Steven has helped guide teams to success, including a silver medal with the U15 EEC Team Newfoundland and Labrador in 2024-2025 and a silver medal finish at U17 Nationals in their division.

Steven has a strong belief in developing players both on and off the court. He is passionate about helping athletes reach their full potential by building their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. His commitment to player development and team success makes him a valuable leader and mentor for the U18 Boys program.

Mike Button returns to Metro Elite for his third season, this year as Head Coach of the 18U Girls program. A Developmental Certified coach, Mike has been coaching for the past six years at various levels, including school volleyball, Paradise Volleyball, NLVA and NEP. He is always looking for opportunities to be around the game, help players get better, and learn something new himself.

He believes strongly that “Culture eats talent for breakfast” and puts a big focus on building a team where the girls support each other, work hard, communicate, and enjoy being part of the team.

For Mike, this season is also about being there for the girls in their final year of club volleyball, helping them enjoy the experience, get better, and make some amazing memories along the way.
