[ANNOUNCEMENT: Victor Badminton NL Metro Senior Open 2026]

The MUN Badminton Club encourages our members' participation in the upcoming Victor Badminton NL Metro Senior Open, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026 (with select local matches potentially scheduled for Friday evening, October 23) at Leary's Brook Junior High.

To support our members, the MUN Badminton Club is offering a $25 cash subsidy per eligible participant.

Subsidy Eligibility & Terms:

* Active Club Membership Required: Applicants must be registered, active members of the MUN Badminton Club for the 2026–2027 academic year. If you have not yet registered as a club member, please complete the MUN Badminton Club Membership Application: https://forms.gle/MPtG5GM1ZHqxQwNh7
* Limited Funding: Subsidy funds are limited and will be disbursed strictly on a first-come, first-served basis upon verification.
* Proof of Purchase Required: Members must submit official proof of tournament registration along with their online payment receipt.

Key Tournament Information:

* Categories: Open A (Men’s & Women’s Singles, Men’s & Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles) and Men’s Singles 30+ (subject to entry volume).
* Match Format: Per Badminton Canada’s July 2026 Competition Guidelines, matches will adopt the "3 x 15" point system (best 2 out of 3 games to 15 points; maximum cap at 21).
* Equipment: This is a feather shuttle tournament. Players are responsible for bringing their own competition-grade feather shuttles.
* Sanctioning: As a Provincial Open A event, results will be submitted to Badminton Canada for National Senior Rankings.

2. Acquire Badminton NL Membership (2026–2027):

Please ensure you select MUN Badminton Club as your official club affiliation. (Note: Do not purchase National or Recreational memberships).
3. Complete Tournament Registration:

4. Submit Subsidy Application:

MUN Badminton Club is pleased to continue our Weekly Badminton Sessions for the Fall Semester 2026 (September to December) at The Works - Field House at Memorial University. Due to the ongoing maintenance at the Field House, the first session will start on Sep 13th, 2026 (Sunday).

Our weekly sessions are open to MUN Badminton Club members of all levels who are interested in staying active, improving their badminton skills, and meeting fellow badminton enthusiasts in the MUN community.

Club Membership Registration (For 2026-27 Academic Year, Sep 2026 - Aug 2027)
• ALL existing members are required to re-register for the new academic year

The MUN Badminton Club & Chinese Youth Association (CYA) Mixed Team Tournament 2026 was successfully held on April 19, 2026 (Sunday) at The Works - Field House, bringing together 6 teams and more than 30 players for a half day of competition.

The event featured exciting matches, strong teamwork, and a great atmosphere both on and off the court. It was encouraging to see participants enjoy the tournament and contribute to such a positive and engaging experience.

MUN Badminton Club and the Chinese Youth Association would like to sincerely thank all players and volunteers for their participation, support, and efforts in making this event a success.

We look forward to welcoming everyone again at our future events!

To allow more players to join the fun, we have officially extended the registration deadline to Thursday, April 16th at 12:00 PM (Noon)! Beginners are highly encouraged to join—don't worry about your skill level, there's a place for everyone to play and have a great time.

Hi everyone!

We would like to share an announcement from Badminton NL regarding an upcoming feather shuttle tournament scheduled for January 30-31, 2026 in St. John’s. This advance notice is intended to help players plan travel and prepare equipment in advance.

👥 Eligibility
• Open to adult players
• Junior players aged 16 and above are eligible
• Players under 16 may only enter with coach endorsement and tournament director approval

🪶 Important: Shuttlecock Policy
• This is a feather shuttle tournament
• NO shuttlecocks will be sold at the venue
• Players must purchase shuttles in advance
• Badminton NL does not stock shuttles for sale

If you need to order feather shuttles, please plan early. Orders through Badminton NL must be placed at least three (3) weeks prior to the tournament.

📅 Scheduling Note
Jan 30-31, 2026 (Fri-Sat)
Some matches may be scheduled on Friday evening to avoid late finishes on Saturday. Priority will be given to players with shorter travel distances.

• First-time tournament players: Regional Membership – $10
• Players who have competed since August 1, 2025: Provincial Membership – $25
