This week's GSMBC Scholarship Spotlight is Katherine Morency.

Katherine started racing mountain bikes on a high school team in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where she is recognized as one of the region's bike legends. She has since competed in cross country and enduro events across Canada and the US, and runs her own coaching clinics through, Motive Athlete Development, delivering skills clinics from Thunder Bay to Whistler. Now she's developing mountain biking opportunities for Indigenous youth.

Her path has been shaped by mentor relationships with experienced BC coaches. The mentor-to-coach lineage is one of the quietest and most important parts of how the sport actually grows, and the scholarship is how we make sure the cost of certification does not sit between Katherine and the next group of riders she is teaching in the Cariboo.
