It's hard to pick a favourite from the archives but this one is high on the list. Ted Halvorson and Ed Antosh demonstrating old time falling in 1958. Maybe something to bring back for the 70!!!!

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the 69th Annual Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival July 30th to August 2nd. Less than two months away!

We've gone way back into the archives for this one thanks to Eric Andersen.

Gary Hendrickson looking confident in the 1967 ace throwing event. The photo is a reminder of the countless multi generations of Squamish families who have kept the tradition of the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival going for 69 years.

Let's keep it going for countless more.

We understand how important the Rotary Beef BBQ is to Squamish Days, because it means just as much to us. For generations, this tradition has been woven into the fabric of our festival - a sandwich that families look forward to each BC Day long weekend, and a fundraiser that supports vital community work.

Over the past years, our volunteer team has been actively working alongside the District of Squamish Fire Rescue to explore options that would allow us to continue preparing the Rotary Beef in a way that aligns with current regulations and existing bylaws. Fire safety regulations have changed, and the District has made clear that open-flame cooking in our area won't be permitted going forward, even with the permits the Rotary received in past years.

As a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit association, please know that our team has been working year-round to find a solution that keeps this important community (delicious) tradition alive. This matters enough to us that it stays at the top of our priority list, even alongside everything else we're juggling.

For the 69th Annual Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival, the Rotary Club is currently testing a solution to cook the beef off-site and assemble the sandwiches at Loggers Sports using JD's same secret recipe that so many in our community know and love. We expect to have a plan in place by early June. While it may look a little different this year, our goal remains the same: to continue a tradition that belongs to all of us.

Looking ahead, we're actively working with the District to identify a permanent solution using an approved fuel source that allows this long-standing tradition to continue for generations to come.

We have seen comments on social media from some who have shared disappointment or indicated they may not attend this year, and we genuinely respect those feelings. We also hope our community understands the challenge we're navigating together, and we appreciate your patience as we work through it.

Most importantly, thank you. Squamish Days has always been something we make possible together as a community, and we truly appreciate your continued support in helping keep these traditions alive.
