Join us for a morning focused on the fundamentals of paddling and building confidence in the canoe.

We'll start on shore at Pocket Beach with an introduction to the boats, basic boat care, paddling terminology, and stroke technique. From there we'll move into shallow water for hands-on instruction and stroke practice before finishing with huli drills.

Huli drills are an important part of outrigger paddling. We'll intentionally flip the canoe, learn how to work as a crew during a huli, practice getting back into the boat, and spend some time finding the balance point of the canoe in the water. The goal is to build comfort, confidence, and safety skills in a controlled environment.

Please be on shore and ready to go at Pocket Beach by 9:00 AM.

We'll also need a couple of volunteers to meet at the clubhouse around 8:00 AM to help get the boats together and paddle them over to Pocket Beach. Please join the WhatsApp chat to coordinate if you're available to help.

You'll be wading in the water throughout the session and swimming during the huli drills. A wetsuit or drysuit is recommended if you have one. You can park at Pocket Beach, so bring a change of dry clothes for after the session.

We'll likely head for coffee afterward if you're free to stick around.

Join us Wednesday, June 10 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the clubhouse for an informal kayak skills clinic focused on building confidence on and in the water.

Dress for immersion; a drysuit is recommended. Bring your kayak, paddle, PFD, spray skirt, warm layers, and a change of clothes.

We'll use playful progressions to explore bracing, edging, sculling, wet exit and re-entry. If conditions and interest allow, we'll also spend time on rolling practice.

This is part of a series of informal sessions over the coming weeks. Come ready to get wet, ask questions, and work at your own comfort level.

C’mon out on Canada Day and start summer off with a friendly paddle in Howe Sound rain or shine. Once back on land we’ll enjoy burgers, hot dogs, and beer together. Location is TBD, as we may launch at either the Sp'akw'us Feather Park or the club house depending on water access.

We'll aim to be on the water by 8:30am, paddle, and come back for a barbeque and hangout. We'll have a variety of lawn games and some Squamish Paddling Club merch for members ;)

Non-members are also welcomed to come try it for a day with a one day membership if you haven't used one yet this season

We need volunteers to help setup, teardown, and handling the BBQ - let us know if you're able to help!

We're looking for some great members who are up for drinking coffee in the park on a Saturday morning and telling the community about all the great things the club offers and has coming up!

We have a branded canopy and some signage to use. Some boats could be carried over to show off as well.

Join the chat on WhatsApp if you're able to help us reach a wider audience!
