When driving to the course, Putnam Road in Avon is now closed. We recommend getting to the golf course by using Yorke Line and approaching the course from that direction, or use Google Maps to find an alternative route. We will let you know when the road reopens.

Firm, fast, and brown is beautiful! The true fun of links golf brings more factors into play that don't happen when a course is soft. Mounds bounce in different ways, you have to run the ball up onto greens, and play more bump-and-run shots. Success comes from being more creative, using backstops and slopes. Enjoy the final round of The Open!

Tarandowah has a very unique connection to this week's Open Championship venue...

Three generations of the Hawtree family of golf course architects have worked on Royal Birkdale. Frederick G. Hawtree and champion golfer J.H. Taylor were responsible for the current routing, following the valleys between the very large dunes which dominate the property. Frederick W. Hawtree, the son of Frederick G, performed some modifications in the 1960s, and in 1993 Tarandowah designer Martin Hawtree, son of Frederick W., improved and modernized the layout further, with all 18 of the club's greens being completely rebuilt, to improve turf and drainage.

The Ontario Men's and Senior Men's Match Play Championship wrapped up today at Tarandowah. For the 3rd year in a row, the golf course was the star of the show providing true championship conditions for the competitors. Tarandowah member Jay Campbell prevailed in the Senior final with an exciting 3 hole playoff victory. Evan Klein of Cutten Fields won the Men's final. Other Tarandowah members also had great showings. Ron Leeuwenburg made it to the round of 16, and Mark Brazier the round of 32 on the Senior side. While Brent Wira made it to the round of 16 on the Men's side.

We are proud to be hosting the Golf Association of Ontario's provincial men's and senior men's match play championship this week for the 3rd consecutive year! The weather is perfect, and the course is in amazing shape. Good luck to all the competitors.
