Over the past week, I've had conversations with several clients about Vertebrex and the origins of its establishment, which inspired me to share the story with you.
A few years ago, I began the quest to find a **remedy for back pain**—specifically, my own. After a lifetime of motor vehicle accidents (too many to count), martial arts throws (with lots of falls), and sports, my back was giving me a lot of grief.
So I began to focus on a natural solution to **target my glutes, sacrum, S.I. joints, and lower back**.
The initial concept was to combine four massage balls to cradle the spine, push the sacrum into a posterior pelvic tilt, realign the hips, and focus on releasing the glutes and back muscles. Of course, I had no idea how to do that other than using good old-fashioned massage balls and foam rollers, which didn't get into the muscles deep enough.
Then, one day, as I sat in a Costco parking lot, the concept evolved: **rollers or wheels could replace the massage balls**. And just like that, the Vertebrex back massager began to materialize. Yet, the path to its development remained unclear to me.
While discussing the concept with a client, he inquired if I had considered creating a wooden prototype. That was an enlightening moment. Of course, the thought hadn't crossed my mind. That evening, I crafted the initial model of the Vertebrex back massager (which remains in use at my clinic).
Upon using it, I immediately felt a **pop in my lower back and SI joint.** It was remarkable, it released my hip and hit the muscles in my lower back just as I had imagined. As I continued to roll it along my spine, I heard several other vertebrae pop. It was a breakthrough.
Subsequently, I reached out to various manufacturers in China to inquire about producing a **3-D rendering** or drawing of the product for a prototype. Fortunately, or perhaps by fate, I connected with a manufacturer who was exceptionally supportive and transparent.
He outlined the costs and process with clarity, and for the past year, we have collaborated to turn this **vision into reality**.
To date, we have developed and evaluated four functional prototypes, with the most recent one designated for mass production. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of my eager prototype testers. Without their support and feedback Vertebrex would still be just a dream.
There is still a lot of work to be on the business side of things but the journey still going strong. Everyday there are new challenges to overcome but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
