The Southampton Curling Club is steeped in history and tradition. Many early residents of Southampton came from Britain, Scotland and Ireland. It is no wonder then that curling in Southampton can trace its roots back to the mid 1800’s when the first settlers shoveled the snow off Fairy Lake to create a sheet of ice for curling. In the mid 1800’s, a combined curling rink and ice arena was built. Th
e Southampton Curling Rink was official opened in 1858. In August 1977, the new curling club opened with over 200 members and is still operating today as a curling club and social gathering place for residents of Southampton. The Club offers a variety of curling activities for all age groups; adult day and evening curling, free curling clinics, competitive and social curling. The Southampton Curling Club hosts many events annually including holiday dinners, Bonspiels, the Cookie Walk and potluck suppers that promote good spirit and fun. Members volunteer their time and organize several fundraisers and food drives which give to the local community. No matter your curling interests, the Southampton Curling Club is pleased to welcome you!
