Most people hate having conversations about their careers. In fact, I’ve never had a single client who loves it or is doing it consistently.

**At least when they first meet me**

But every single client who takes me up on my guidance around career conversations starts getting noticed more often.

We use a strategy called the Conversation Loop.

Comment CC and I’ll send you a link to be the first to grab my career conversations framework when it comes out on March 31.

You’ll be impossible to overlook.

Leaders — are you guilty of these 3 mistakes?

👉 Comment NOW, and I’ll send you the link to register for my live training, The Layoff Proof Leader: How sought-after leaders shift from doing the work to leading the work on February 13th

So many leaders hold themselves back—not because they lack commitment, but because they’re still leading like doers.

Here are the 3 mistakes I see most often:

1️⃣ Solving every problem yourself — it feels faster, but it leaves your team dependent on you.

2️⃣ Working all the hours — it looks like commitment at first, but eventually it proves you don’t know how to use your team.

3️⃣ Choosing speed over growth — it feels efficient, but it slows everyone down in the long run and cheats your people out of development.

Each one keeps you buried in ex*****on instead of stepping into leadership.

Leadership isn’t about creating results yourself.

It’s about creating the environment for other people to make results happen.

That’s what I’ll be teaching at my live training on Feb 13th, The Layoff Proof Leader!

➡️ When there’s too much work, rolling up your sleeves and “helping out” is not a leadership move.

I know it feels like one. It feels like you’re jumping in to “save” the team.

But if you jump in the water with everyone else, who’s going to be there with the life preservers, making sure no one drowns?

I know it feels good to help. It even feels noble.

But what truly differentiates sought-after leaders is being effective at helping your people prioritize and navigate the work.

Not doing it for them.

And that’s a hard habit to shift.

That’s why I’m hosting The Layoff Proof Leader: How sought-after leaders shift from doing the work to leading the work. It’s happening on February 13th.

Some leaders talk too fast.

Not because they don’t know better—but because we’ve been taught that speed = smart.

And maybe that’s true at earlier levels.

But at the leadership level, everyone’s smart.

Leaders level up smart to strategic.

And that comes from slowing down.

The space between stimulus and response—that pause—is where you allow your strategic leadership to show up.

I call it The Golden Pause.

Because that small, intentional silence buys you time to think, regulate, and land your message with more weight.

Here are three moments where it matters most 👇

1️⃣ When someone challenges your idea.

Pause. Let silence work for you. Ask, “Tell me more about what’s behind that.”

2️⃣ When your team brings you a problem.

Pause before solving. Ask questions that help them think, not lean on you.

3️⃣ When presenting to senior leaders.

Pause after your key point. Let it sit. That silence signals confidence and authority.

The Golden Pause is a high ROI tool to practice

It’s not hesitation. It create impact and time for composure

And it helps you earn trust without saying a word.

Most leaders don’t lose authority because of big mistakes — they lose it because of small, everyday words that tell people they’re not in control.

Phrases like “It’s crazy right now” or “I’m so busy” sound innocent, but they make you sound like a passenger instead of a driver.

Your language reveals how you lead.
When you use ownership language, you send a signal of calm, focus, and authority — even in chaos.

✅ “It’s crazy right now.” → “I’m resetting priorities so things run smoothly.”
✅ “I’m so busy.” → “I’m managing a full plate and focusing on what matters most.”
✅ “It shouldn’t be like this.” → “Let’s deal with the problem in front of us.”

The situation doesn’t change.
Your energy — and everyone’s confidence in you — does.

Start this week by catching one reactive phrase and reframing it using “I” or “I’m.”
That one shift changes how you show up, how people respond, and how you lead.

And when you’re ready to become a top-performing leader, book a strategy session with me to see if executive coaching is right for you.

👉 Follow for grounded leadership tools that help you communicate with calm, credibility, and control.
