✨️Meet the Maker✨️
Next up in our Meet the Maker series, meet Tracy Winters of david's daughter 🐝
Hi, I’m Tracy. After nearly 30 years away, I moved back home in 2021 to help take care of my dad. Fast forward a few years and here I am, a bona fide beekeeper! I have bees, scars, honey and wax. You know what I don’t have? A bathroom full of plastic.
I’d already been using bar shampoo for several years, so ditching the body wash and making my own soap seemed like a natural progression. I do hot process soaping, so it’s just me and two slow cookers that have never seen a stew. Each bar has a rustic look and is minimally trimmed because I hate wasting good soap. It contains locally sourced lard whenever possible, honey & wax from my hives, high quality essential and fragrance oils from reputable Canadian merchants, and colourful clays so that I can tell them apart.
I also make pure beeswax candles in small quantities. They burn clean and naturally smell sweet. Do you know why they’re a bit harder to come by than other types of candles? It’s because bees must consume about eight pounds of honey to produce just one pound of wax! I can’t blame them for eating all that honey though - PEI honey is delicious, and I hope you like it too.
Dad’s gone now but every now and then I still get asked ‘Who’s yer father?” I’m david’s daughter.
🐝 From hive to home, Tracy’s products are full of Island charm, hard work, and a whole lot of heart — and we’re so excited to have her as part of the Naufrage Harbour Gift Shop.
