We’re looking forward to bringing 2 teams again, to the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon and are excited about the changes being made.

New for 2027, will be an OUT and BACK trail totaling 330 miles. Also there will be 18 hours of rest. Toughest trail in years. Warmest welcome yet. More announcements to come....

Zildy’s daily foot bath, courtesy of her daily water bucket refill. I’m sure she would have her back feet in there too if she could figured a way to get them in the bucket.

I’ve been trying to get a video of this for a while, but she’s kinda shy with letting people watch her during her foot bath…

As you head into the long Fourth of July weekend, all of us at the Iditarod want to wish you a safe, fun, and memorable Independence Day!

We're grateful to live in a place where we can share our passion for the trail, our incredible sled dogs, and the amazing community that makes the Iditarod possible.

Whether your plans include time with family and friends, a trip to the cabin, a community celebration, or simply enjoying this great summer, we hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. If fireworks are part of your celebration, remember to help keep your pets safe and comfortable, too. 🐾

Jesse was joined by Orvie Jarvis, Oaken and Jitterbug to present a virtual class with Connected North. They presented about racing in the 2026 Iditarod, winning Rookie of the Year, the amazing Alaskan husky and setting goals. Almostst 20 schools from across the country (British Columbia, Ontario and Nunavut) signed in to be part of the virtual learning.
It was kind of strange talking about the Iditaord trail and how cold it was considering it was super hot yesterday, at 30 C (or 86 F)!

We are in the process of writing letters in reply to the fan mail (yes, random people, mostly kids who followed The Iditarod in school, write to share their support!). It’s another fun way to relive the experience, while showing gratitude to those who choose to support us.
Also, corporate sponsor and dog sponsor packages are in the works! We’ll have those mailed out soon.

It was Huskies Day at Sioux Mountain Public School today and the perfect day to come in and talk about mushing and The Iditarod. Mary, Miali and Jesse were joined by Jitterbug and Oaken.

Thanks to Marius for demonstrating what it looks like to dress and stay warm at -45 C!
