Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce Tyler Hawryluk as the Head Coach of the U11AA Barons for the 2026-27 season.

Tyler brings a strong hockey background to the role, both as a former player and an experienced coach. He played his minor hockey with the KC program through Bantam AAA and Midget AAA before going on to play three seasons of Junior A hockey with Fort McMurray and Fort Saskatchewan.

As a coach, Tyler has been involved with SPMHA for 11 seasons across the U7 to U11 levels, including serving as an assistant coach with the U11AA Barons last season. In addition to his work with SPMHA, he has coached across 13 seasons in non-sanctioned and spring hockey programs at the U9 and U11 levels, including four seasons as a head coach.

Tyler’s coaching philosophy places a strong focus on skill development, team building, and helping players grow as well-rounded athletes both on and off the ice. He believes in developing trust with players, providing structure, and creating an environment where players have the freedom to learn through trial and error, make mistakes, and grow through positive feedback.

“I’m excited to work with SPMHA, a strong group of coaches, and the parents to help our kids develop into the best hockey players they can be,” said Hawryluk.

SPMHA congratulates Tyler on his appointment and looks forward to seeing the U11AA Barons continue to develop under his leadership this season.

Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce Rob Lowerison as the Head Coach of the U11AA Arrows for the 2026-27 season.

Rob brings a strong connection to the Sherwood Park hockey community, having grown up playing within SPMHA and progressing through several levels of the program, including the Kings stream. His background as both a former SPMHA player and longtime coach gives him a strong understanding of the association, the player pathway, and the importance of creating a positive experience for young athletes.

Rob began coaching in 2007–2008 with the Strathcona Jr. B Sabres and has since built a broad coaching background across multiple age groups. His experience includes eight seasons as an assistant coach within SPMHA, one season with the SPKAC U13AA Steel Kings, six spring hockey seasons, and most recently serving as Head Coach at U9 Tier 1. He has also supported teams at the U7, U9, U11, U13, and U15 levels.

Rob’s coaching philosophy places a strong emphasis on skill development, work ethic, sportsmanship, teamwork, and building a positive team environment. His approach aligns well with the goals of the U11AA program, where continued development, competitive growth, and a strong team culture are key priorities.

“I’m excited for the season with the Arrows and to continue to develop as a coach,” said Lowerison.

SPMHA congratulates Rob on his appointment and looks forward to seeing the U11AA Arrows continue to develop under his leadership this season.

🏆THE SHERWOOD PARK KNIGHTS ARE CJHL CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN🏆

Backed by a massive home crowd at Randy Rosen Rink, the Knights delivered a commanding 5–1 win over the Morinville Jets in Game 7 on Sunday night, securing the 2025–26 Capital Junior Hockey League Championship.

Ryan Bablitz led the way with two goals, while Jayden Deakin, Kaden Bandura, and Warner Fadish each added singles. Goaltender Caleb Muri turned aside 29 shots in a rock-solid performance between the pipes.

The title marks the Knights’ third league championship in the past five seasons, having previously won in 2021–22 and 2022–23. It is also the 12th CJHL championship for the Knights over the league's 54 year history, further cementing our place as the most successful program in the league.

With the CJHL title secured, the Knights now turn their attention to the next challenge, as they prepare to compete for the Provincial Championship next weekend in Lloydminster.
