MEET COACH TARA
1. What got you into coaching/fitness, and what keeps you passionate about it?
Fitness has always been a big part of my life. I started gymnastics when I was five and never really stopped moving! Soccer, rugby, volleyball, team handball, dancing, rock climbing, taekwon-do, cycling, weightlifting...Iâve tried a bit of everythingâand been injured A LOT along the way. I love challenging myself and helping others discover their own passion for movement, even when injuries mean finding a different way to move.
2. Whatâs your specialty or the class you love teaching most?
Pilates Reformer Jumpboard
3. Whatâs one thing members are always surprised to learn about you?
I am a black belt in taekwon-do.
4. What does âRaise the Barâ mean to you as a coach?
Itâs where people come to challenge themselves, cheer each other on, and discover that their âbarâ might be a little higher than they thought.
5. Outside the studio, what are you into? (hobbies, family, guilty pleasures)
Discovering new adventuresâmostly epic playgroundsâaround Edmonton and area with my 6-year-old son, Armin. Staying active with my husband, Dwayne, and our German Shepherd, Loki. By day, Iâm the Communications Manager at Alberta Conservation Association. When itâs time to slow down, youâll find me at the movies or theatre, reading, tackling a jigsaw puzzle, or putting together photobooks of all those adventures.
6. Anything else youâd like to add?
Honour the body, mind, and soul you have today. Yesterdayâs work shows up in how you move, think, and feel right now. Youâre not who you were yesterday, and you wonât be the same tomorrow. Be grateful for todayâs version of you; she worked hard to get here.
Tara has been with us since the very beginning of RTB. We are proud and happy to have her Fridays!
